jordan69s
Hello everyone and thank you for reading my post! I have always used hidemyIP which uses proxy server to mask my IP address while I am browsing and surfing the NET. My question is would it also hide my IP when I am using Bittorrent. Or do I need to use a program specific for torrent clients. Also, What about encryption? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated,Cheers
moogly
You can't really hide your IP surely to 100%, even if you use a proxy (proxies supporting torrenting are rare) or a better solution like a VPN (surely the best one).Encryption has nothing to do with anonymity.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_protocol_encryptionSearch on the board, there are many threads about encryption and VPN. jordan69s
Thanks for your reply. So I have being researching regarding VPN services and I finally found a pair I can try.... I try searching on how to configure Bittorrent to work with VPN and I could not find anything... Is there any configuration needed in Bittorrent in order to work with VPN at all? Or it will simply work using the IP address provided by the VPN service? Also, I thought that encrypting would hide the contents of the downloads, so the ISP will know you are downloading something but they could not "see" what it is.... I am wrong on that? otherwise, why using encryption at all?Cheers
