donkeyballs
First up, I have no plans to route P2P traffic across Tor ; it's not designed for it, slow, I'll go straight to hell etc. However, I am experimenting with using Tor to communicate with non-private trackers for added anonymity.I have a standard install of uTorrent 1.8.3 and a standard install of the Tor bundle (including Privoxy & Vidalia). I've pointed uTorrent at the proxy (Socks5, 127.0.0.1:9050, only checked 'Resolve hostnames through proxy').My questions are:1) Am I right in thinking that the only peers I should see uTorrent uploading to are those flagged 'X' for local peer exchange and those who I'm also downloading from (or have downloaded from previously)?2) Aside from the reduction in upload speed (definitely not zero at the minute thanks to local peer exchange), will I see any performance penalty for torrifying my tracker comms? Thanks in advance! DreadWingKnight
Honestly, torifying tracker communications as an attempt to bypass anti-p2p groups won't help in the slightest. You'll still connect out to them, and they will still find you.
