jaimez30
I have been using utorrent for a while and have always had to forward ports to obtain the green light. I recently changed provider and router and the light goes green without forwarding. When i test the port it comes up as closed. I am wondering whether it is ok as the green light is there or if i should port forward anyway?
BlueDragon
You may have a look at my posting (#5) here. This should answer your question. If you don't forward the port correctly you will have only outgoing connection and this will dramatically reduce your up and download performance. moogly
You have to trust the network icon in uT systray before the result of portforwarding test.If the icon is the green circle, it's OK. uT has to use UPnP to open a port I think (surely checked by default in your client). BlueDragon
uT has to use UPnP to open a port I think (surely checked by default in your client). That depends entirely upon you router capabilities and of course the way you set it up. UPnP is not a must at all. Besides I would rather trust the port checker than the green icon... But as I wrote above if there's no "I" flag than it's definitely a bad sign and opposite.
