Sagus
So, my ISP has recently introduced some local peer connectivity, but I'm afraid my rather slow 5400rpm HDD (WD10EACS) might not keep up adequately.I've configured the uTorrent's Disk Cache settings as in >this pic<, but perhaps, someone here might have a suggestion on how to lessen the strain on the HDD and better utilize some of the 8GB RAM this machine has? Switeck
If you have plenty of spare-ram-to-burn, set the disk cache as high as 1600 MB.uTorrent is a 32bit application so both it and its disk cache cannot total more than 2 GB in size. Sagus
Increasing the maximum cache size turned out to be exactly what was needed. No more disk overloads or speed fluctuations. (Also unchecked 'Increase automatic cache size when cache thrashing', since it's no longer applicable.)Many thanks.
