Illman
I have used the guide the Utorrent provides, and when I check if the port has been fowarded properly it says it doesn't work. The guide I used is this: http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/2wire/2701HG-G/Utorrent.htm I followed the steps exactly and it still isn't work. I have tried it on my wired desktop and wirless laptop and it hasn't work at all. If someone could help me it would be very much appreciated. Thanks
Switeck
Did you port forward both UDP and TCP to your computer's fixed LAN ip address?Your computer's fixed LAN ip address should be outside the router's DHCP dynamic LAN ip range.I am assuming you've got an ADSL modem-router. Is that the 2wire you're configuring?
Illman
I am not exactly sure what you're saying, but when I put my router in DMZMode Plus, uTorrent tells me that my ports are fowarded properly. DMZMode Plus means that all incoming and outgoing traffic is allowed but I don't think that is a very wise decision due to security issues. Switeck
DMZ is indeed putting the computer to the same risk as not having a router at all.But that DMZ mode works suggests manual port forwarding should too! What is your computer's LAN ip and what is the router's DHCP ip range? Illman
Well, I never had a router until recently and never had any problems so should I still put it in DMZMode or can people tap into my connection and steal my wirless signals? Switeck
DMZ makes your computer no more vulnerable than connecting directly to your modem. However wireless security is an altogether different issue.WEP encryption on wireless is hopelessly insecure. The best wireless security with a high degree of compatibility is WPA2-AES. GTHK
Well, WPA is ok for the moment, and has better compatibility with older stuff, but it is starting to crack. WEP only takes a few minutes to break. Also, if you poke around your router you should find the settings for DHCP range that Switeck requester earlier.
