Hello Ultima,

I think it may be better if ExternalLinks.html in user manual opens external links in default web browser.

U can change LvlLord TCPIP.sys XP patch and mydigitallife.info Vista patch by universal patch from www.half-open.com .

Here is HTML source for example:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml11/DTD/xhtml11.dtd">

Opening in new windows would be better. And that's exactly how it was originally written -- with target="_blank" for all external links -- but when I wrote it that way a few years ago, W3C's XHTML 1.1 validator said that target was not a valid anchor attribute. As such, using them made the page invalid XHTML, so I decided to just not use anchor targeting. I don't know why or when the W3C decided to finally add target back into the core standard, but apparently, XHTML 1.1 documents with anchors using that property are considered valid now, so I'll add them back in.

As for the halfopen thing, I'll see.

Hi Ultima,

I found missing item in the user manual: "AppendixA_01_01.html#Help.uTorrent_FAQ"

µTorrent Help ...

µTorrent FAQ opens the µTorrent FAQ webpage in your default web browser. You can also look into FAQ in this user manual.

______________________

µTorrent Webpage ...

...

µTorrent FAQ = "ExternalLinks.html#uTorrent" (there was FAQ as external link in user manual for 1.7.7)

FAQ in this user manual = "FAQ.html"

Right-click: Option+left-click doesn't send a right-click event to µTorrent because it has not been implemented in Wine.

Shouldn't be right-click value mouse instead of key?

Yeah, the right-click thing has already been fixed in my own copy for a while now, but the contents of the manual currently on the download server hasn't been updated for a long time too.

FAQ thing I don't think I'm going to bother changing. In the end, the whole reason why I integrated the FAQ in the first place was to keep all documentation in one location, so my hope is that either the FAQ menu item will eventually open up the manual, or the manual itself will be uploaded to the site *unpacked* and as individual, linkable pages (such that the FAQ entry ends up linking to the manual on the server, or something).

And FYI, I'm removing the TCPIP.sys thing for Vista altogether, and leaving only the lvllord.de patch linked. At this point, only Windows XP w/ SP3 and Windows 2003 w/ SP1 even remotely need any such patch, and AFAIK, the lvllord.de patch still works for them. Windows Vista w/ SP2, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 R2 all don't have half-open connection limits in TCPIP.sys anymore.

Disk Statistics displays several graphs pertaining to disk and cache access. In each of these graphs, the lighter lines represent the graphs for writes or reads (depending on which graph you're looking at) to and from the cache. Their darker counterparts represent the writes and reads to and from the disk. Textual statistics pertaining to disk and cache access collected for the current session are shown to the left of the graphs. The "Reset" button below resets the collected statistics.

I think that lighter is HDD, darker is cache (tested in µTorrent 1.8.1 and 2.0 RC2).

By darker, I mean more saturated -- more darkly colored (think the difference between writing lightly using a color pencil and writing hard). I'm guessing when you say "darker", you're referring to the luminance (it looks dimmer). In that regard, you'd be correct, but that wasn't the intended interpretation.

Will change it to "light vs solid" as with the light/solid red/green.

Edit: So light = cache, solid = disk.

Hello,

please change tstatus_stopped.png from grayed round icon to grayed double arrow.

grayed double arrow = inactive torrents

grayed round icon = inactive feeds

___________________________________________________________________

If you would like you can also use toolbar icons to AppendixA_01_02.html from http://sharegadget.com/685124935

___________________________________________________________________

And what about change AppendixA_01_04.html:

<a class="name" id="Name.status_downloading" href="#Name.status_downloading"><img src="..

to

<a class="name" id="Name.tstatus_downloading" href="#Name.tstatus_downloading"><img src="..

etc.

___________________________________________________________________

I think that old real order of lists (corresponding with default order in columns or tabs) are more better than new alphabetical order. I think the best place for alphabetical order is glossary.

But it is your manual and I must respect your choice.

- Inactive icon duly changed.

- Toolbar icons aren't used because they're taller than the line height, which is annoying from a page layout perspective (especially considering the fact that we're dealing with list items where we have to worry about bullet position in relation to floated images). Were it not for layout issues, I would have already added the toolbar icons a long time ago. I do already have the raw artwork, alpha transparencies and all, to add if I need; thanks though. I might revisit this in the future, but for now, I think I'll leave it as is. And er, before you ask, I have already considered using all of the µTorrent artwork more extensively in the manual.

- Element IDs don't have to match image file names, and won't. I left it that way intentionally because markup isn't the content.

- Compromise on ordering: I'll move the obviously-primary columns to the top of the list for all listview descriptions (Name in torrent jobs list and Trackers list first, IP in Peers list first, etc). Other than those, I'm leaving it sorted in lexicographic order because:

1. It's harder to search for specific column names when left non-alphabetical. Not all users care to right-click the column headers just to figure out the exact placement, and honestly, it'd be dumb on my part to expect users to do that too.

2. It's a pain to manage the list of columns as it grows and stays non-alphabetical, because I have to keep switching back and forth between µTorrent and my editor to see if I have the order correct.

moogly,

here it is: http://download.utorrent.com/help/utorrent-help-2000.zip

Ultima,

from version 2.0 are UDP trackers supported too.

invalid url means the tracker specified is not valid, and cannot be used with µTorrent. This most often occurs if the specified tracker is not of the correct protocol (µTorrent supports only HTTP and HTTPS trackers).

ETA displays the estimated amount of time ...

... If the torrent job is transferring too slowly, or has reached its seeding goal, this column will display the ∞ symbol. ...

I think the red text is not true and should be deleted. In this situation is field in this column blank.

Status bar

Stopped by speed test: means all active torrent jobs including forced are temporarily stopped to allow the Setup Guide's speed tester to obtain as accurate a result as it can achieve.

Please correct it in green way.

Status Bar - Context Menu

Enable Scheduler: ..... toggle it manually ....

Bad link, please change it to "AppendixA_02_09.html#Enable_Scheduler"

Preferences - Connection

Note: µTorrent does not support proxy UDP-based communication.

Missing word.

Thank you Ultima for including me to Credits. ;)

I was using proxy as a verb, so no, it's not missing a word (not grammatically anyway). In retrospect, though, it isn't really correct verb usage either, because µTorrent doesn't proxy any traffic -- it sends traffic through a proxy. Rewording to "µTorrent does not route UDP-based communication through the proxy."

The Alternate upload rate when not downloading ... no torrent job is in downloading mode (only uploading).

Shouldn't be it seeding? When torrent is in Status: Downloading, Done: 30% and speed D:0 kB/s, U:50 kB/s (values for example), alternate upload isn't used.

Preferences - Advanced

diskio.coalesce_write_size: This option determines the size threshold for which µTorrent should write data out coalesced, and is relevant only if diskio.coalesce_writes is enabled. This value is interpreted in bytes per second, so please enter it as such.

What value is writen in this field, is it amount of data (B) or speed of writing (Bps)?

How do I change the number of connections µTorrent uses?

... Starting too many torrent jobs simultaneously can be detrimental to bandwidth usage, ...

Oh. This seems to be copy/paste bug. I know it too. ;)

Change it to number of connections.
