sade Posted February 16, 2006 Report Share Posted February 16, 2006 I'm looking for a way to set up an fast games deployment for tiny lan party (8 players).It seems bitorrent could be a efficient way . So I tried µTorrent on my lan with 2 PC without any tracker :I create a torrent file from the source PC , launched µTorrent on the other anf give it the torrent file . I thought it could find each other with DHT but nothing happens , the target cannot find the source. sade Posted February 16, 2006 Author Report Share Posted February 16, 2006 It doesn't seem . With FTP and a large file and the same HDD , the speed was about 11MB/s in dowloading/writing. I think my HDD writing speed is about 28/30 MB/s.I have just tested to seed a 500Mo directory with +1000 files and it works flawlessly at the same 5MB/s !!Now , I just hope the PC could seed at 10MB/s with two 5MB/s peers Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vectorferret Posted February 16, 2006 Report Share Posted February 16, 2006 Although it wasn't necesarry for this problem, just for info the original poster, Mainline DHT doesn't work on LAN's (not sure about Azureus DHT, but µTorrent doesn't use that).
