arvo
I'd like to be able to hide certain downloads/uploads from other peoples eyes. Like say I am downloading 2 torrents, I want to be able to mark one of those torrents as "HIDDEN" and it will become "INVISIBLE" to anyone that looks at my screen (and maybe even someone trying to spy on me). I hope that is descriptive enough. And it will be rather useful for those who download porn and don't want anyone to know about it. Please add this feature now Thank You. Ultima
Alternatives:(1) Use the boss key, and they won't see µTorrent at all(2) Use labels and select only labels you want to see, then hide the category sidebar, effectively "hiding" torrents(3) Stop being paranoid ;P(4) Don't download stuff you don't want people to see =](5) Use separate accounts for other people using the computerI'd say either 1 or 2 would be most feasible, although 3, 4, or 5 would be best xD
Nefarious
(4) xDbut seriously? number 5 is greator even u could make so that having an alone folder that contains the .dat files and the utorrent.exe apart from the %appdata%. and then using the boss key to hide ur utorrent, and if people want to use utorrent, they will open the other instead, the "public" one, but still u would have your things appartedit: ok, i just read all i said, and i made no sense at all, did i? Ultima
Hm, that makes perfect sense... and is actually a very good idea O.O
Nefarious
ohhh, ok then BTW, a Hide/Invisible torrent... what would stop people from clicking on "Unhide torrents"? you would need some kind of password protection or somethen for it, and that aint gonna happen on utorrent (password protection i mean)
Ultima
It deters the casual µTorrenter... though if people were trying to "spy" on arvo (spy is a strong word O.O), even a boss key might not help, since a "spy" would use more sophisticated techniques, like keyloggers and whatnot... Nefarious
ohh right, is not "spy", is 'hacker' xD
osm0sis
many "spying" systems used by employers can also easily check what processes are running, though i suppose if you don't give them any reason to be suspicious they might not bother
StoicJester
well to circumvent that rename your µTorrent exe to something else, and the process is also renamed. and the labels hiding doesn't work so good if you add labels afterward. i created a feature thread to request a way to hide a label, in addition to choosing labels you want to see.Show new labels when category list is usedignore my first post, it sucks. my request is understandable towards the end. splintax
Bad idea IMO. Use different accounts if you want privacy. :/
Sun Guru
Hi ya'll..I was reading above and have a question.I was having the same question as Arvo had. And the most realistic answer in my case was that of Ultima number 2.(2) Use labels and select only labels you want to see, then hide the category sidebar, effectively "hiding" torrentsBut!...My question now is: is there a way to create a password protection system on that label? So if anyone wanted to look at what is being labeled there, that they should enter a password?....Just a thought....[MERGE]Or better yet...is there a way to delete the option to show/hide the "show category list" option. And let it be accessible by only clicking on F7?
Ultima
Password protection of any form is out of the question for µTorrent, and removing from the menu likely won't happen either.
