NAT Error with Linksys WRT54G

To setup a static IP, you should use Static DHCP, provided within the router, not the hack that portforward.com tells you to use. Set it back to automatically get IP then setup static DHCP in the router's config.

Question: What is the advantage of doing this rather than the hack?

Because you can a) use DHCP instead of manually setting it up on each PC, and it's persistent across installs B) it ensures that the IP address is reserved c) you can use DNSMasq to put in all the DNS servers you want, instead of manually setting it on each PC
