alexalex246
I use uTorrent quite a bit but i've found that when i'm getting 700kB/s down and can upload about 40kB/s. But when i've finished downloading or it's more like 30kB/s down then i can barely manage 2kB/s if i'm lucky. Usually i can't upload at all. I've done the Speed Check multiple times including as i write this thread and my speed is still miniscule. Why is this? Anyway of fixing it? Thank you for any help. paintball9
uTorrent uses overhead in both direction when transfering. Eg downloading will use upload bandwidth to send piece requests and such. The newest beta doesn't show how much overhead is being used but if you go to the speed graph you will see a second dotted line for each upload and download showing the actual bandwidth usage including overheads.Your connection sounds very similar in speed to mine. I get around 700 down and 35 up (seperately, never together) My max upload when I'm downloading at about 500 is somewhere around 10. (25 is being used for overheads)
alexalex246
For a change i've got 30 uploading and 30 downloading but on 2 seperate torrents, i've finished one of them. I looked at the dotted line but it's maybe 3 above what the proper upload is.
paintball9
Ya, I can usually get to about 100KB/s before I see a drop in upload speed.
Switeck
BT Central ADSL ISP in the UK definitely throttles and disrupts BitTorrent traffic.I would expect their level of disruptions to be even worse during peak evening hours on weekdays. alexalex246
Well i'm on BT so maybe that's where the problem is, i would expect they would more throttle the downloads rather than uploads
Switeck
Uploading gets throttled heavily also because of how they pay for peering arrangements probably. Uploading from BitTorrent is more continuous than downloading, at least for many people.
