Damn.. So utorrent is pretty unsafe. I think I might have an idea. Going to starbucks or something and using their connectection to download things.

That way I wouldn't be getting caught, and I doubt that starbucks is going to be hit with a lawsuit for it.

uTorrent is neither safe nor unsafe. It is a tool. What is unsafe is a tyrannical system gone amuk "protecting purloined property', just as ol' Ben predicted.

"Superfluous Property is the Creature of Society. Simple and mild Laws were sufficient to guard the Property that was merely necessary. The Savage's Bow, his Hatchet, and his Coat of Skins, were sufficiently secured without Law by the Fear of personal Resentment and Retaliation. When by virtue of the first Laws Part of the Society accumulated Wealth and grew Powerful, they enacted others more severe, and would protect their Property at the Expence of Humanity. This was abusing their Powers, and commencing a Tyranny" -- Benjamin Franklin (1785) unpublished

How do you set a utorrent shortcut on the desktop? It would seem that would be easy but it doesn't happen automatically. I can't even find where its installed.

please forget what I just said. I downloaded the torrent app directly from here, and the option came up perfectly. The problem was probably I downloaded the original app from a non-utorrent site and it had been screwed with. Thanks anyway. I left the message as it was and edited so people can see the importance of realizing where you're downloading from.:P

I have been using uTorrent for a while now and I believe it is one of the better torrent clients. I haven't been involved in the community much as I don't get into that sort of thing but I do know that uTorrent has rankings over all other clients.

As for comcast detecting that you are downloading illegal and/or pirated software; It is inevitable, if the data passes through their servers they will be able to see unless of course it is encrypted in which case will only take a longer time to read the data.

SE7EN out....

with all due respect, if you do not know how to do a simple file search to find where a program such as uTorrent is installed and are not so careful as to selecting safe executables to install, then you should not be using any file sharing utility. Start with a basic computer use tutorials. learn how computers work first.

Second, this has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. If you have a legitimate question, first search for older threads that might be related. If you can't find any related discussions, then start a new topic thread. Do not post onto another persons thread, especially if your concern is unrelated, such as this is.

It doesn't work that way. Comcast is not sifting the data. Other parties, usually hired enforcers, monitor p2p networks for evidence of people sharing files they deem to be the "intellectual property" belonging to their client. These then report such alleged violations to ISPs such as comcast who must chastise their users and threaten them with denial of internet access. In a worse scenario, they request comcast turn over your real identity to them so they can file draconian law suits for harming their profit potential.

Did anyone stop to think that the person who is asking this question might be gathering "evidence" at "Starbucks" in order to support their "client's/plaintiff's" case of "supposed" infringment? I know quite a few bittorrent support sites, as well as bittorent video sites that have been "infiltrated" by said blooksuckers cronies! A "briceforshen" "bryce . . ' and the trademark/copyright lawyer for 121 other l{ogo/video) gay porn sites, Marc "the copyright troll" Randazza! Google the name! Started showing up between 11/2010. Has several "bogus" lawsuits pending!
