I am using the beta version Version 1.7.2 (27177)I also have BT Guard which I enabled their proxy settings.Here is a screentshot of my preferences. I never had an issue when I wasn't using BT guard. I can take bt guard off to test it, but to be honest I forget what the settings (which port etc...) need to look like when I revert back.
