Mar91
Hi guys,i am trying to enlarge utorrent cache. In particular i am trying to obtain this behaviour:Write downloaded chunks only if the cache is full.I tried do set every setting, but i couldn't understand the mechanism of caching.Utorrent keeps writing the chunks whenever it wants. How can i do this? I want to make disk more silent!
DreadWingKnight
So you want your download to corrupt when your system crashes?

DreadWingKnight
Well you also don't realize that increasing the disk cache to the levels that you want and having it behave the way you want won't quiet the drive at all and will instead only reduce its lifespan. Mar91
mmh..can you explain me better?I though that the mechanism was:Download data to ram ( used as cache ), then write to disk. Isn't like this?
DreadWingKnight
The thing is:Constant disk writes aren't actually as noisy as you think, and "Download data to ram, then write to disk" frequently causes the drive to spin down and up, causing more needless wear on the moving parts in it.
