tekin
Hey. I have this problem with uTorrent that while I'm not downloading anything and all downloads are paused, still the program shows download speed of 5 kB and apparently downloads something automatically. Do you know the reason to this and How can I avoid it? thank you in advance.
DreadWingKnight
Don't use pause. Use Stop.
tekin
How can I search for such a specific problem? Paused or stopped, all show a speed of NAUGHT! But overall speed is average 5kB and can go up to 30kB without even one file downloading.
DreadWingKnight
You didn't say that. And you also didn't say how you were coming to the conclusion that such speeds were being used.
tekin
Oh that's your sig, I thought it was part of the answer (FAQ and Search); my bad I came to that conclusion 'cause "Total Downloaded" is going higher and higher for itself and it's going nowhere. DreadWingKnight
Which "total downloaded"?It's probably protocol overhead.
tekin
No, it's not protocol overhead 'cause there wasn't such a thing until a week ago. By total downloaded I mean the amount uTorrent shows right beside download speed in the lower bar of the software interface and also in the "Show Statistics" part in the Help section. DreadWingKnight
Yeah, that counts protocol overhead.
tekin
Thank You then! But I'm curious where did this much of protocol overhead come from while there wasn't any for the last 3 years that I've been using it?
DreadWingKnight
It's always been there. You just haven't been looking at it.
tekin
Do you have to answer to sth you don't know? There has never been such a thing as speed for nothing!
DreadWingKnight
Understand what protocol overhead is, why it's there and why you can't get rid of it before you bitch about it being there.
