  1. Added your Chinese version to this topic.
  2. You need a service wrapper. Check out the following post for more info: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?pid=282499#p282499
  3. Switech doesn't mention the net.max_halfopen limit (until further down) while many other setting-tweakers do. This is because tweaking the net.max_halfopen setting doesn't actually get you better speeds. Thus from a 'finding optimal or conservative settings' point-of-view the net.max_halfopen setting isn't important. It is only with specific problems where increasing or decreasing the net.max_halfopen setting can sometimes help. For example trying the value 4 has helped with some problems and the value 100 has helped with other problems. So if you think there is actually something wrong then it might be worth a shot to try these values just to see if they help. HOWEVER!, do NOT increase the advanced net.max_halfopen value in Windows versions that have an OS level halfopen limit. This almost certainly WILL lead to connectivity issues (aka browser and other internet programs are either slow or not working at all). I'm talking about: Windows XP* Windows Vista without it's SP2 installed And even if you don't have an OS level limit changing the net.max_halfopen value can cause issues, especially with some consumer-grade routers. So keep in mind that you might be making things worse instead of better, and also keep in mind that it might take minutes, hours or sometimes even days before such issues crop up. * Technically speaking, windows XP didn't have the OS limit until it got SP2. But it is NOT recommended to run windows XP without at least SP2 installed.
  4. Close utorrent Start -=> Run -=> %appdata%\utorrent [enter] -=> Select All Files -=> Cut -=> Start -=> Run -=> %programfiles%\utorrent [enter] -=> Paste Start utorrent. Check logger tab and see if it reports the following: [xx:xx:xx] NOTE: Settings file found in directory of executable; using that. It worked \o/
  5. And last but not least BitComet is Evil. I'd recommend Azureus over BitComet. He'll I'd recommend pretty much any client over it. That is if you fail to appreciate the beauty that is µtorrent
  6. warpos: read the readme.txt carefully

  8. It isn't. Yes, WebUI is being developed. No, he's not giving out ETAs
  9. Make sure you guys document your changes so when a new version comes you can re-implement it.
  10. ?action=getsettings The resulting 'array' has a item called "language". "0" = English "27758" = Dutch U'll have to find out urself what numbers are which language.
  11. No, there hasn't been a release in a year. Yes, WebUI is being developed. No, he's not giving out ETAs
  12. @ciarals: If you had read the readme properly you'd have seen that the webui.zip needs to go right next to the settings.dat file which by default is located in %appdata%\utorrent
  13. Seato. And Azureus is a good client. But some people seem to prefer the sleek running µtorrent over Azureus's many features. It's a question of preference. Of taste. Of what one values in a client. How can u blame µTorrent for its popularity while its the people that choose? Now if you could u actually discuss the problems you are having instead of whining and making everything that is said here into a personal insult aimed at you. The devs can't fix bugs you have found if you refuse to tell them.
  14. I find 1.7.5 is running better on my machine then 1.7.2 was.
  15. The developer confirmed recently he is still (planning on) working on it.
  16. There are no leechers. Only seeds and (other) peers. The fact is you don't have all the pieces and even though you might (you could always enabled a file you filtered out before) be done downloading no other peer (with the exception of peers that excluded the same files as you) would consider you a seed. Your viewing this whole thing from your own perspective instead of looking at the whole swarm. Also I agree with system that because partial downloads aren't part of the specification 'completed' can safely be assumed to apply to the whole download.
  17. Completely off topic but Trigun rules! My nr2 Anime and I've seen a lot of Anime.
  18. np I added multiple torrents in the past and can't remember having problems with it. I can't test it right now. As I said it seems unlike to be caused by the clogging but I'm glad we got that out of the way. I'll test it myself some day soon but its also the first time I heard of this problem. It would be technically impossible for µtorrent to load a torrent without the .torrent file. So it has to mistake old torrents for new ones somehow.
  19. If you switch public IP: no If you switch local IP of your computer in your LAN: yes, you need to reconfigure the port forward in your router
  20. Auto update still wasn't working. I updated manually now. But considering 1.7.1 is banned shouldn't auto-update get a bit of a priority?
  21. A valid approach imho. If there are allegations going around it might be best to implement security measures first and ask questions later. As long as they really do try figure out what is going on asap after that. Its when clients get perm banned without a second thought when things go wrong. Being banned from a tracker for a few days is better then having serious exploits running amok. If you don't have the technical expertise in house to figure out if what exactly is wrong yourself it can take this long (I would question why you are running a tracker without technically experienced staff though...). Besides 1.7 and 1.7.1 were borked. And now the tech savvy people that are trusted by these sites have to affirm that 1.7.2 is fine. Trackers that banned 1.7 and 1.7.1 and that quickly unban the new version now are probably the best trackers out there from a technical expertise point of view. kulmegil: Just because we provide cookies but you really wanted cupcakes doesn't mean our cookies are bad. PROXIMO: DHT is disabled for private torrents. Has been for a long time, always will. war59312: Probably because µtorrent has a build-in installer now. God Bless America, Allah Bless the Muslim nations and Bless Europe with no Religious Fanatics.
  22. nandi0009: µtorrent is free and can be downloaded from http://www.utorrent.com/download.php @globetrotters1: 1, 2, 3 sounds like you are clogging your bandwidth. Try putting the upload cap lower. Run the speed guide again. If that doesn't help reduce the maximum number connections total. 4. Those pages don't time out because you are actually receiving data. Its just going slow. When you don't have any contact (packers) at all for x seconds a connection times out and afaik there is a limit in the browser how long it will wait before dropping a connection when there is no activity. Its posible for a server to set that timeout lower and drop a connection sooner but its impossible for a server to set it higher then the browser setting (well its posible to set it higher but it only takes one to drop a connection). I don't think µtorrent has this time-out so low that it regularly drops your still active connections unless you are clogging your bandwidth. Sounds like you are clogging your bandwidth or you can't handle the amount of connections. Same advise: Run the speed guide again. If that doesn't help reduce the maximum number connections total. 5, 6 and 7 strange behavior that I can't explain. It might be related to you clogging your bandwidth but seems unlikely. Solve that problem first and see if this problem persists just to be sure. Wishlist (I'm not a dev though): 4 It auto-updates the info frequently. F5 forces re-downloading although it re-downloads the images too but it still shouldn't take very long unless you are clogging your bandwidth. Simply pressing the Go button (green play button in Fx2) will refresh the page without downloading the images again I think. Not sure though (it might decide to use a cached torrent list). Other wishes +1 from me
  23. Actually the most common definition of a LAN is 'geographically close to each other'. It idd has nothing to do with public/private IPs and also doesn't have anything to do with network equipment used. However from a technical perspective a LAN is accepted as a network of linked computers that uses a defined set of IPs (preferably in the local range but at least all in the same chosen subnet (utilized through the subnetmask)) and is connected to other LANs and/or WANs by the use of a router/gateway (in the broadest sense of the word). You utilize a router and have created another set of IPs with its own subnet on your side of it. By doing this you de facto created your own private LAN and your PC isn't part of the other LAN. I have no idea how to route multicast packets to another subnet if posible. And then still other equipment could block it. Other people in your 'LAN' could use routers too. If the 'LAN' you describe is merely a custom subdivision made by your ISP to allow high-speed traffic between members of the same ISP I wouldn't even describe it as a LAN in both the common definition as from the technical perspective. Its just a special set of speed limiting rules in the network of your ISP. All the bickering over definitions and expected behavior aside the higher speed is the most important symptom of a LAN for µtorrent and probably the main reason of local peer discovery. Being able to define a range of IPs that should not be affected by the speed limits is a worthy addition and I suggest you create a topic for it on the Feature Request forum.
