  1. I have the main window open
  2. I'm running 7111 torrents.. and it is not crashing
  3. I mentioned a few hours ago that I had a torrent that was showing as an error which I could not remove. I was finally able to remove it.. here is what I did... I moved all the files in the folder to another location. (This step might not have been necessary) THEN I found the torrent file, and renamed it to have an extension of .ERROR instead of .TORRENT Then I shut Utorrent down and started it up again. Now it was complaining that it could not find the torrent... I then renamed the torrent back to it's original name, shut down Utorrent, started it up again.. and everything was back to normal other than the files were gone. I moved the files back, and did a re-check.. and everything is perfect. If this happens again, I will try skipping the step of moving the files to another location.
  4. I do have the duration column.. but quite often, that entry is blank.
  5. The current version - 45852 - is the first version I can recall that has no problems at all. I have ONE wish though. It would be nice if the DURATION off all videos would be revealed. Some of them are. I often have multiple copies of the same video in different sizes and/or different names which are the same video other than their codec / quality / name. Revealing the DURATION of every video would go a long way to assisting me in deleting duplicates, deleting poor quality versions of videos, and deleting excessively large copies of videos.
  6. I think what you are referring to is that if you use the INSTALLER, it OFFERS you a load of shareware, all of which you can decline. You can avoid the offers of shareware entirely by replacing just the utorrent.exe file. I am using the LAA version of 3.5.5 build 45832 - and this is the first version that I have had NO problems with at all! I should also mention that I have 7044 Torrents loaded into my Utorrent...
  7. installing bittorrent, and then going back to utorrent fixed it. I don't notice that any changes have been made to the preferences, or advance preferences. A weird thing is that it was working find with 45838, but then had the problem when replaced the utorrent.exe file with the 45842 build.. and continued to have the problem when I went back to the 45838 build. I have a feeling that fixing it might be even easier than installing bittorrent (and then reverting to Utorrent). I think it might be possible that if I just UNassociated Utorrent with torrent files, and then re-associated Utorrent with torrent files, that would have fixed it. I think the fact that I installed bittorent was inconsequential. Anyway... I'm now running 45842 with the LAA flag set, and everything is working fine. If this problem shows up again, I will try the "unassociate" and "re-associate" theory. Should I remove my comments about this problem, since apparently nobody else has the problem? .. or maybe they do, but just don't comment about it? Bittorrent has some nasty problems of it's own.. that I don't want to be bothered with.. so I just stick with Utorrent.
  8. I found a fix for the "Space error" problem. I installed bittorrent (which choked on the dat files itself) but then opened up Utorrent again.. and re-associated torrent files with Utorrent.. and now it works.
  9. The torrent files are not corrupt. I can take any torrent file name.. remove the spaces and they work. I can take any torrent file name with no spaces.. add a space.. and they generate errors.
  10. This delightful video illustrates the problem of the "space" in a torrent filename causing errors. Please comment on the video so other people can enjoy it.. I spent nearly an hour making it! https://youtu.be/ZNnPOUwgBC4
  11. A strange problem! I've had this problem in the past, but it went away I was running 45838 with no significant problems but then updated to 45842... THEN I had the problem where any torrent I load that has one or more spaces in the name of the torrent (such as "Mary Poppins.torrent") gives me an error. That error can be fixed by either moving that torrent to the "automatically load .torrents from" directory OR by removing all spaces from the name of the torrent (to make it "MaryPoppins.torrent") OR by replacing the spaces with another character such as an "_" to make it "Mary_Poppins.torrent" The weird part is.. I tried going back to build 45838... but the problem now affects THAT version as well! So, I went back to 45842 again. So, I think something else is going on other than the EXE file itself that has caused this strange problem. It does not matter what the file names are INSIDE the torrent.. it's just a problem with the name of the torrent itself! WEIRD!
  12. I'm now running the LAA version of 3.5.5 Beta build 45842 - and everything looks perfect so far. I did not have any crashes with 45838, but I did have some "not responding" problems which forced me to shut down and re-start. Here's an idea... if Utorrent is not responding for something like 10 minutes.. or half an hour.. it should automatically shut down and re-start (after saving the dat files).
  13. I'm running the Large Address Aware modified version of your version 45838 above.. and so far it is working perfectly. I notice that the EXE file is slightly smaller than the previous version, which indicates that the program has been "cleaned up".
  14. Whoops! Yes.. I just fixed that. I am running the LAA version of 45828.... and THAT is working perfectly. The 5mb installer of 45828 is NOT the LAA version. I am running the 45828 LAA version as Rafi discovered the fix. I've always wondered why none of the actual programmers read the forums? Do they speak English? I can do any language they want. উটৰেৰে ট'ৰেণ্টডাঙৰ ঠিকনা অৱগত কৰক! Направи Utorrent голям адрес наясно! 要utorrent大地址知道! Maak utorrent groot adres bewust! Ua utorrent loj qhov chaw nyob paub! آدرس بزرگ utorrent آگاه! جعل أوتورنت عنوان كبير على علم! Machen Sie utorrent große Adresse bewusst! Сделать utorrent большой адрес известно! Utorrent বড় ঠিকানা সচেতন করুন! Meentik utorrent nojoch dirección consciente! Utorrent te wāhitau nui kia tūpato!
  15. No, the installer is not LAA aware. If you try to set the flag on the installer, the installer fails. I am running the LAA version of 3.5.5.45828 and it works PERFECTLY (so far). Here are screenshots of my Utorrent stats. I am showing them so people know what loads Utorrent is capable of handling.
  16. I keep going back to version 45798 (LAA) I tried 45822 and 45826 .. but both are crashing on me. I don't recall having any problems with 45798 (LAA).
  17. There is no virus in it.. it is definitely a signature mismatch. It works great. I have no idea why the Utorrent programmers don't turn the Large Address Aware flag on.
  18. Where is the LAA version of built 45798 (or newer?)

I want to try and use my powers of persuasion to get the developers to turn that LAA flag ON.  I won't mention you unless you want me to.  You DESERVE all the credit, but I'm not sure that you WANT to be credited with the LAA idea until AFTER they implement it.  I know that in the past, that Dreadwingknight or whatever his name is, has been a pain in my ass whenever I suggested anything.

I'm a bit of compuutore geenyus myself..  but I was unable to find where the LAA flag is in the binary code.   I know how to MODIFY code, but I'm not so good at finding the bits to modify.

    ==========================

I  used to help a Russian programmer develop, market, sell, and provide tech support for his software.  The problem was.. that software was so good, that people were cracking it's copy protection within DAYS of every release!  People would download our program, loved it.. purchased the "key code" to unlock it.. then cancel the transaction with their credit card company and get a full refund.  About 2/3 of the sales wound up getting refunded.. even 6 months after the transaction!

The Russian guy gave up on the PC version of his software, and stuck with the Apple Version.  The sales went down the toilet.. and I think he may have committed suicide... but that's another long story.

I'm not having luck downloading that file.  Keeps saying it is a virus and will not allow me to download it.  It seems that Google has tightened up their security to the point where nothing gets through.  In fact, that software I was selling with the Russian was affected that way.  It got tagged as being malware, and nobody could download it anymore. Unless a programmer submits their source code to Microsoft, Microsoft labels is as "potential malware" and effectively kills the product.

Anyway... is there some other way I can get that file?   I have various email accounts   gmail, outlook, ymail, yahoo  and could make some other email account.  I think if you made a zip file or rar file with a password on it.. then it would get through.. because without the password, they can't scan it.

Thanks..that worked.. minutes ago.. I found another trick to get it downloaded..  Firefox blocks it completely.. but I got a link... and opened the link in Chrome and was able to download it that way also!

  19. I have 3.5.5 45365 installed.. and it crashes every 30 minutes or less. I upgraded to 3.5.5 45397 (which seems to have removed TronTV) and that crashes even MORE often. I've got terabytes of empty hard drive space and the maximum RAM there is for my computer which is 128GB - I never even come close to running out of RAM. However, I constantly get "Windows is unable to allocate memory" errors from Utorrent (and BitTorrent) but no other program on my computer ever has that problem. There is a big nasty problem with Utorrent and Bittorrent that exists and is being ignored. I have tried Qbittorrent which is a ripoff clone of Utorrent/Bittorrent... and it never crashes. I am getting to the point of switching from Utorrent to another program... which I do NOT want to do. I have looked at the peers lists of my torrents.. and see an increasing number of people using bittorrent, qbittorrent, libtorrent, and transmission instead of Utorrent.
  20. I spotted a problem, but after restarting, the problem vanished.
  21. a long time ago.. utorrent came bundled with a load of embedded games. I didn't mind that, but most other people hated it. The only other torrent client that I would suggest people use is Bittorrent, which is made by the same company and 100% clone of Utorrent, but is coded differently. I use bittorrent to download / leech files, then autosave the torrent files to a directory which utorrent automatically loads the completed torrents.. and utorrent uploads / seeds the files.
  22. My guess is that an html video player was removed? I'm just guessing.
  23. 3.6.6.4481? Where did you get that? It must be an alpha? I'm now running beta 3.5.4.44809 My updates.dat file is only 1,861 in size. What is that file for? Would there be any reason not to delete it? From what I can see.. it's just a log of installs with no function at all.
  24. My Utorrent pane suddently went from 2 panes to one.. and I did every trick in the book to fix it, including deleting the settings.dat file and regenerating the default.  That didn't fix it.

What DID fix it was downloading Rafi's settings. dat file.   That fixed the problem and also improved other things quite a bit.  I am now tweaking Rafis settings to suit my own needs.

What puzzles me is.. I have no idea what settings are in Rafi's settings.dat file that make it work right.  I don't see anything about pane controls.  I have seen dozens of people posting about the same problem for years.

I would like to know how to fix that problem instead of having to replace my settings with a transfusion of Rafi's settings.

Glad to hear it helped you. Screenshot (including menu->options)? Usually F4->F7 control the panes. Two monitors setup can sometimes be an issue...

Thanks for the tips, but it wasn't any of that.

One of these days I will compare the defective settings.dat file with the one you posted.  You made some other improvements in the appearance that I can't find in the settings.  I backed up the defective one.  I think my cat screwed up the settings when he was stomping on my keyboard.

One setting you have set, which I did not like is that torrents don't start downloading automatically.

I like that  since I start them automatically using RSS downloader or using Medusa TV app . But I think you might be right, it is better to set to auto-run for other users. I'll make a note to change it on that file...
