Turn them off then. The setting has been posted several times around the boards including post #18 in this thread.

I'm somewhAT baffled by this fuss over ads, I've been running 3.x.x since it was released, currently on 3.2.2.28110 and have yet to see an advert appear anywhere, nearest I've got to an advert is a "take a survey" (which was about BitTorrent) link that appeared in the main window header.

maybe, but as I said I am making an assumption which may, or may not be correct, and of course my reply is based on my observations.

I have to assume that you do not have "Pre allocate all files"I have just downloaded some files with the latest 3.2.1 28086 version of uTorrent. I deselected three texts files, but in the files section of uTorrent it says they have 100% downloaded and the bar is green, yet when I check in my download folder I have only got the files in there that I chose and no text files. So either uTorrent is giving false information or the files have been downloaded somewhere else, which is it.Probably the pieces that held the data for those files did not contain data for any other files, so were never requested, therefore the disc filing system has not created a reference to the file(s) that does not exist. The client marks them as complete because to all intents and purposes they are.
I have to assume here that you do not have "Pre allocate all files" because if you do, all file references, whether downloaded or not, is allocated space, and therefore a filename in the disc filing system.

No, only have one monitor. Also, left computer running last night and woke this morning to find the INSTAGRILLE advertisement back covering the uTorrent Plus ad to the bottom left of the program.
Why not turn off the "Show Plus Information" ?
Mine is off which is probably why I haven't seen ANY of this advertising that people are wittering on about.

There is something that has improved the download/upload efficiency, I talked a friend who is a fully paid up and certified 'technophobe' through updating to the latest beta rather than stable version only updates, and he has had a noticeable speed increase also. He uses a different ISP to me and everything is set on the defaults.

Not seeing the maximise/restore behaviour tested using:
window maximise/restore button;
double click on window title bar;
close GUI to tray/open from tray;
exit client - restart client
Window metrics remain unchanged in all cases.
No featured content displayed - sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled set to false in build 28012.

And my router is still reporting 7.4 M down, 1.2M up.

Yep, I know, and I've changed nothing at all, the only thing different from ~23:00 yesterday to ~08:00 is that there are no peers at all showing for a couple of the seeding downloads.
Which is pretty normal for my downloads

Well done gals and guys on the dev team.
Updated to build 28012 this morning and for the first time in a couple of years I've had to limit the global upload and download rates to allow browsing to run smoothly.

I can't say I recall it being majorly different, at least not in the past three years or so, but then I do tend to rename the torrent file before loading it into the client.

And how would it be any easier if the files from every single torrent you had ever loaded were all dumped in the one folder?

PS: If you continue to add nonsense you have to change your slogan to: WAS a (very) tiny BitTorrent client. Please, keep only the core business in uT.
The icons go away once you have clicked on them and visited the page and don't appear to come back, or that's what it did for me (3.2.1.27999)

Actually, that would NOT be that easy to do over HTTP (web) and probably not that useful for the majority of users.
If you need (or want) to have remote file management why not just use VNC or enable RDP (Windows XP onwards) on your machine.

That would usually be done to reduce the impact that hundreds of thousand of clients downloading updates at the same time will have on the update servers. I would think that staggering the updates is preferable to coding the client (for Windows at least) to use BITS (Background Intelligent Transfer Service) that Windows Update uses.I'm not completely sure of the reason -

You are never going to get to what speed your line is capable of or rated at using ADSL/DSL, My connection is rated at 16mbps down 1.2mbps up but the maximum transfer I can get is 7.5 mbps down 0.74 mbps up (UK to UK nodes)
Are you testing the transfer speed with local nodes or remote nodes? As a remote node test will be MUCH lower than local node tests are.

I have 3.5Mbps up speed, and 0.5 down speed.
3.5Mbps = 430KB/sec
but i cant get more than 330KBs.Sure that's the right way around? Down capability is usually higher than the up capability. Also your 3.5 mbps that your ISP tells you, is a MAXIMUM that you can get UP TO, NOT the actual rate of transfer that you WILL get. There maybe up to fifty other people using that same 3.5mbps line, called a "contention ratio". you all cannot have 3.5mbps at the same time.
