Invy
I'm having this problem where if I cap my download speed, my upload speed gets very unsteady.I'm downloading this torrent that is about 50 GB in size, and I have approximately 40 GB of it completed. Unfortunately this tracker that it's from is very picky about ratios. Being that my ratio is in a danger zone, and me on the edge of being banned, I decide to cap my download at 2kB/s and let my upload run freely at 45kB/s. But when I do this, my upload seems to be very unsteady and it dies out a lot for short periods of time.Anyone have any idea why it's doing this? Also, I have changed the upload slots for that torrent to 8, and even 20 slots, but it doesn't seem to have much effect.Any other info you need to know, please don't hesitate to ask. Ultima
Capping your download speed isn't recommended, and it tends to happen when doing so. It's difficult to limit the download speed reliably. My guess (which might be wrong, it's just speculation) is that µTorrent kills the upload speed a bit to compensate and make peers less interested in uploading to you, thus lowering your download speed. Invy
Oh so this is a known problem with utorrent? Is it possible to it to be cured?Would it happen with other clients like Azureus, that you know of?
Switeck
Turn on Scheduler and use upload only mode. Then you can run your ratio back up for awhile before finishing that download.
Invy
Brilliant! I never thought about doing that. My upload is running smooth as can be now. Thanks for the suggestion
