cs96and
Hello.I'm using uTorrent on Windows XP x64, and every so often uTorrent just seems to stop responding. I can see from my network usage that it has stopped uploading/downloading anything, and double clicking on the system tray icon does nothing. I have to manually kill it off in task manager all the time.Sometimes this happens after about 5 minutes and sometimes it may take several hours. Only once have I seen the "uTorrent has crashed, press this button for a crash dump" screen.I do not have the XP firewall turned on (I have the service disabled) and I do not have any other software firewall installed.I have avast anti-virus installed, but have disabled the uTorrent P2P shield as well as the Web Shield. Firon
Try uninstalling Avast.
cs96and
I'm sorry but if I have to uninstall a virus checker in order to get uTorrent to work, then I believe there is something seriously wrong with uTorrent.Uninstalling my virus check is not an option. DreadWingKnight
http://utorrent.com/faq.php#Incompatible_softwareTry replacing avast with avg if you're that insistent on having an active antivirus.
cs96and
That link simply tells you to disable the P2P shield, which I've already done.
Firon
It's just to test it. While only the P2P shield should cause issues, updates to AVs/PFWs often introduce new issues.Anyway, just uninstall it for a moment and see if it makes a difference.
