muuu
Since i got a stupid ISP that caps all but http traffic, i got the idea to mask the encrypted BT traffic as http and possibly send it over port 80.This can be a feature to manual enable.I think this is the way to go, to pwnd the stupid ISP´s of the world. DreadWingKnight
It's not that simple. "Masking" BT traffic as http isn't as easy as you'd think.
muuu
Well that goes without saying, and thats why im posting here, so that someone klever can make it happen.
DreadWingKnight
I'll put it simple. The "Masking" you want simply turns into a full rewrite of the BT protocol.
Switeck
Protocol encapsulation tends to raise the overheads immensely and would only delay any blocking. Many ISPs are blocking 'unknown' traffic already or lots of connections traffic, this would do nothing for them. ranma203
well azureaus is actually already supporting this feature with its traffic encrytion (encryts packets so that isp cant tell what they are and thus cant automatically repress their traffic) and since I feel uTorrent is the best out there, I'm sure it wouldnt take too much to encorperate this feature. I'm sure it'll be in one of the next releases and might already be in testing now. Can't wait for that, it'll be nice to get back the bandwith you pay for. DreadWingKnight
Protocol encryption has been in uT for a few months now, and was the first one with a fully functioning version of the current encryption standard (azureus' initial release implementation was so rushed it was bugged and caused piece corruption). Ultima
@ranma203: Protocol Encryption does not mask anything as HTTP traffic, Azureus' does not either, AFAIK. My guess is that you were mixing up "protocol encapsulation" with "protocol encryption" when Switeck mentioned the former.
