Program Alias

Hi,

A simple but handy feature is the create a program alias for uTorrent.

Some programs like Nero has this.

Some information about how this works:

1. Goto Start Menu

2. Run (or at once with WindowsKey + R)

3. nero

If you have Nero installed it will start.

Example of the register file that will work if you have the right path

uTorrent could create an alias like this so you can always start uTorrent quickly.

1. WindowsKey + R

2. utorrent

I've known people that prefer to type out commands, but the process is still slower and more key-presses to do then clicking an icon in your desktop / taskbar.

Changing your paths does not create an alias, it just makes the program available in any directory, like dir / ipconfig, etc. Basically you are making utorrent.exe a system-wide available program.

I know, when you place uTorrent in Windows\System, or just place C:\Program Files\uTorrent in the PATH variable it will work.

that's what i use - alt+escape-> (start typing utorrent -).. ut.. -> enter

there ya go ofc there has to be a shortcut somewhere and it has to be indexed.. (u can index the exe too btw..)

using launchy is easier that using the run command.. u still need a 2 button combination to open a box.. the difference is it is easier to index all your mp3s and stuff than doing that for the run command.. and if u start typing in launchy u dont need to type the full name of the program(mp3, directory, ...)

I already have Colibri

Works good for me, tried Launchy, but someway I like Colibri more.

But I do not have a shortcut in my Start Menu or Desktop So Colibri does not index that. With WindowsKey + R and the utorrent would work for me

u cant index manually with colibri.. with launchy u can specify which of the folders(drives) and file extensions to be indexed

I see. Well, if nobody else likes this feature, then I will open an Explorer windows with WindowsKey + E and go to the utorrent.exe

I don't do uTorrent all day, only once a month or so
