Is there a way to shorten it? It currently appears permenantly set to 15 minutes.

No there isn't, nor is there plans to.

Updating more frequently is abusive.

Hahaha, what's next? Browsers will refuse to update a page more than once every 15 minutes because otherwise it's "abusive"?

it's in your best interests to have a longer refresh time, since it allows for more people to be on the torrent by the time you join. I personally feel that 15mins is too low.

This is a pretty good point, although I've noticed that usually, by the time it filters here, speeds are already pretty decent.

You can shorten it if you go to Options -> Preferences -> Advanced Options -> rss.update_interval

I don't know why I had to find this out on another forum, seeing as two mods responded to this thread. One of my feeds only keeps items from the last 15 minutes, so you can see how having a 15 minute interval might miss some downloads.

the lowest i can get µtorrent to go is 5 minutes. i only keep it that low because i have it reading a local feed. Still hoping that µtorrent will support local feeds without me having to use hfs someday.
