merlin853
I have uTorrent up and running. My connection is good for 266kBps dl and 30kBps ul, and I have it set up for xx256 dl and xx22ul. Is this right?Queuing is set for default: maximum 2 active torrents, maximum 1 active download. Can I increase these? Finally, could someone explain this to me: seeds 0(6), peers 1(1).Any other tips for optimizing my settings appreciated. Ultima
Er... xx/256k in the Speed Guide. The Speed Guide shows everything in kilobit/s, not kilobytes/s
merlin853
Even with a capital "B" it's bits?
Lord Alderaan
Capitalization of the k's and b's is as avidly ignored as enforced.
Switeck
An increase in the number of active torrents you're running without a similar increase in the upload speed you're giving...is nearly leeching. Each upload slot as an absolute minimum needs to have an average of 1 KB/sec upload speed to it...and to run smoothly needs 3 KB/sec or more.Even with upload slots per torrent set to 3 and active torrents set to 3, that's 9 total upload slots...for them to each reach 3 KB/sec would be 27 KB/sec -- probably the upper limits of what your connection could do stably. Ultima
@merlin853: Eh? Where is there a capital "B" in the Speed Guide's dropdown list?
merlin853
Not in the dropdown list - in the text below.I think I got it straightened out. Thanks all.
splintax
Finally, could someone explain this to me: seeds 0(6), peers 1(1).This means that you are connected to 0 of 6 total seeds, and 1 of 1 total peers. A seed is another person with a full copy of the file you want. A peer only has an incomplete copy.
