Titash Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Is it possible to hide utorrent from Add and Remove programs in windows. Unlike other applications it does not feature in the registry. Is there any other way or will the developers team consider a complete stealth mode in a future release?
slipstream Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Cannot reproduce. I do not have µTorrent (1.7.x) in the Add and Remove programs list =)
Titash Posted August 10, 2007 Author Report Posted August 10, 2007 I am using 1.7.2 and it is there is right on top and none of the registry hacks are working to remove it!
slipstream Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Unlike other applications it does not feature in the registry.Doesn't seem to be possible - uninstallable programs list is only stored in the registry. You can check it - for example with freeware Uninstall Tool - http://www.crystalidea.com/files/utool16.zipLocate µTorrent in the list, right click, select "Registry entry" - regedit would popup with the corresponding key opened and highlighted.
TheBear Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Ccleaner has a built-in utility for editing the Add/Remove programs list to remove items you don't wish shown.
dAbReAkA Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 i think it wont add itself there if u select "no" when it asks "do you want to install utorrent?"
nos_slived Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 Use the stand-alone application, not the installer package.
dAbReAkA Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 there's no installer package anymore.. the stand-alone application asks if u want it to move itself to program files and add the add/remove entries
nos_slived Posted August 10, 2007 Report Posted August 10, 2007 I didn't think there was, but if he automatically upgraded from an old version, it's possible that the installer was used.
Titash Posted August 11, 2007 Author Report Posted August 11, 2007 Yes a non-default install works ! I figured that out!
