welshgirl
Why do I see the odd tiny bits of download going on when one of my torrents has apparently finishing an is seeding? Are gaps being filled in or is is just system handshakes or something like that?

welshgirl
Not very helpful. For the 2nd time, I just spent ages going right the the FAQs to find the answer. This time I did find it but cannot understand the terminology. Can someone answer me in plain English or at least explained what Bitorrent protocol overhead means. I just want to learn a bit more about this thing.

Switeck
Anything besides bits of the torrent file being sent from a seed to a peer or a peer to a peer is "overhead". Much of it is absolutely necessary to make the whole BitTorrent system work. Some of it balloons in amount due to poor settings -- such as allowing too many connections at once. It does little good to allow 100+ connections if it only takes 20 or fewer to max out your line.
