7539518624 Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 Ok i have been trying to use utorrent for awile now i have downloaded 2 movies so far but have taken ages.I need to know how to forward a port and if that is why i have the slow speedI have the windows XP firewallI have a westell 6100 i don't know if it is a router or modem i don't know what the difference is.It is a box hooked to the wall for DSL through verizon. So if you can help me forward my port for faster speeds pleaseP.S. I tried to upload the movies also so I was not a leech but when movies was done downloading size 1.12Gb my upload was at 1.32Gb and still not done why was that
Switeck Posted August 26, 2007 Report Posted August 26, 2007 The westell 6100 does indeed have a router inside of it...it may ALSO have a firewall as well that needs to be configured or disabled!Have you tried www.portforward.com ?
7539518624 Posted August 26, 2007 Author Report Posted August 26, 2007 yes i have tried portforwarding i choose the westell 6100 one went through it and it did not help.I went on my DSL account and turned off firewall it didn't help
bart3215 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 I have the same exact problem, I know how to forward ports, but ever since I've been back from vacation nothing seems to work. I also use a Westell 6100.
Switeck Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 You may have hidden firewalls in your antivirus/antispyware software that also needs to be configured or disabled.
bart3215 Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Well before my vacation everything was working fine, the only thing different was that I updated UTorrent. I'll check my security settings again just to make sure though.
7539518624 Posted August 27, 2007 Author Report Posted August 27, 2007 i don't have an anti viruse thing so that can't be why
Switeck Posted August 27, 2007 Report Posted August 27, 2007 Post a Process Explorer or HijackThis! list showing what's in your computer's ram.We may be able to spot the problem that way.

Switeck Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 It may just be the "weight" of all the dissimilar programs running at once. Anything internet-related in particular may conflict with other network-using programs.Just because software is commercial, doesn't mean it's professional or reliable.Still my main guess is MegauploadToolbar (spyware) is the main problem.
7539518624 Posted August 29, 2007 Author Report Posted August 29, 2007 OK why are other people getiing help on my forum when i am not
DreadWingKnight Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 it's your THREAD not forumand they're getting help because they're providing the requested information.
Switeck Posted August 29, 2007 Report Posted August 29, 2007 Both Process Explorer or HijackThis! are 3rd party programs (not made by Microsoft) that list what a computer has loaded on it. You'll need to download one or the other and post a list that they create of what's on your computer. For that, you'll need to read their instruction manual/s to figure out how.
7539518624 Posted August 30, 2007 Author Report Posted August 30, 2007 I would post the required info if someone would tell what i need to post instead of just helping the other guy
Switeck Posted August 30, 2007 Report Posted August 30, 2007 I already have:"Post a Process Explorer or HijackThis! list showing what's in your computer's ram."...and my last post.
7539518624 Posted September 1, 2007 Author Report Posted September 1, 2007 oh my gosh just saying the same thing that you want doesn't tell me how to get the information
Switeck Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 For that, you'll need to read their instruction manual/s to figure out how.I'm here to help you use µTorrent, and I have a LOT of other people to try to help too.You have to learn some of this stuff on your own.
