freebiebrodie
Three of the people in our house use utorrent and download on a regular basis. Whenever Scott or myself are downloading using bittorrent, our connection is fine and no one else in the house is affected. However, when our Andrew opens utorrent and is downloading even a little bit, it absolutely cripples our network. When someone is playing Halo 3 over Xbox live, their connection drops to red and stays that way. He can be dowloading at 100kb/sec but it will bring our 10 megabit connection to a standstill. Why would it only happen when Andrew uses utorrent? He has limited his connections and his download speeds are about a 1/10th of our actual bandwidth. PLEASE HELP because he insists on downloading all the time.

hermanm
Lot of people rave about the LinkSys WRT54G Router with QOS. Each port can be assigned a specific priority. Ideally, you want XBOX 360 ports at highest priority so you can frag properly. Then set Bittorrent ports on low priority. Any time there is traffic contention, XBOX 360 gets the green light first.
