cwsmaster2
Sometimes when I start a download it goes at great speed for about 20 seconds then it drops under 30kb/s, and remains under it. The problem I think might be port forwarding, i've ran the test and it says that the port is being blocked. However I do not have a router, and I disabled norton and windows firewall, but the speed is still limited. Also when I download files from online websites, rapidshare etc..the speed is always 200kb/s. So I think its just the torrent files which are limited. jewelisheaven
That very may well be. Many ISPs shape traffic which it determines to be torrent-related or other filesharing related. This may be on a timer (which you can use the built-in scheduler to work around)... or may be permanent. You can try calling up your ISP for help SPECIFIC to this... the more specific the question the more likely you will not get a scripted response from help personnel.Have you tried any torrents listed from Ultima's How-To Troubleshooting guide? http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ and http://www.slackware.com/torrents/ qualify in that list. Switeck
Bell Canada *IS* throttling BitTorrent traffic to typically 30 KiloBYTES/sec download max.µTorrent v1.8 alpha may have additional schemes to get around the throttling.
jewelisheaven
I know someone who works for Bell / Bell-Atlantic, perhaps I can get some information about what kind of automated methods they are using. Also the current ALPHA (yes that's pre-beta) for 1.8 can be found here.
