Recall Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 Ok, yesterday I was downloading some torrents, and my internet would just freeze up while torrents where fine.So I did all the usual tests:1:) Ruled out my router by directly connecting my cable modem2:) Tested wireless router to another pc ( wireless connected ), and that does not lockup3:)Reinstalled my NIC drivers4:) Reflashed my router5:) Deleted all my settings in app data6:) Messed with my max connections, reducing them very lowNone worked, it still killed my internet. So I tried the bitorrent client, which I have now noticed is the same as utorrent! Anyway when I used the bitorrent version of utorrent it works fine! My internet does not die and works perfect. What the hell is going on??System:Linksys WRT54GS V 6.0 - UK versionE6600 Intel4GB RamWindows Vista 64bit UltimateAny idea how to fix utorrent, it does not make sense!
Firon Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992#p258231
Recall Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Yes, I tried all those and was expecting someone to post that with zero comments... As mentioned I am using the bitorrent client with zero problems which is basically a rebranded Utorrent correct? So why would the bitorrent client work and not utorrent, what are the differences?

Firon Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 So, you've tried disabling DHT and local peer discovery to no avail? What if you lower connections to 100? Have you actually capped your upload to 70-80% of its max?
Recall Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 Well I formatted to completely rule out my hardware and it fixed the issue. However this does not help me avoid it next time, anything in my processes or registry entries I posted that could cause it?So frustrating when things like this happen.
ajones81 Posted January 4, 2008 Report Posted January 4, 2008 What's with all the missing files?Anyway, good you fixed it. Try comparing new logs with the old ones to give you an idea re. what the problem software could be.
Recall Posted January 4, 2008 Author Report Posted January 4, 2008 The missing files are a permission issue with Vista, they are owned by the trustedinstaller, rather than administrator and therefore HJ reports them as missing.Clean install for reference, nothing that I noticed different?Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2Scan saved at 21:18:51, on 04/01/2008Platform: Windows Vista (WinNT 6.00.1904)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16575)Boot mode: NormalRunning processes:C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CTHELPER.EXEC:\Windows\SysWOW64\CTXFIHLP.EXEC:\Windows\SysWOW64\CTXFISPI.EXEC:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\x86\SetPoint32.exeC:\Program Files (x86)\Minefield\firefox.exeE:\Downloads\HiJackThis.exeR1 - Switeck Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 BitTorrent probably has different default settings than µTorrent, despite now using the same program core.Your networking hardware and/or software simply cannot handle the strain of whatever setting is enabled in µTorrent.Have you gone through the usual disabling of features in µTorrent?(DHT, UPnP, Local Peer Discovery, and Resolve IPs)They probably ALL need to be disabled and then test whether reducing connections very low helps.
