highmailer
Hi.I have download a file (1,4 GB) to app. 20%.Then the message above appears in the status line and the AVAILABLE-Graphik gets red.I do a right klick and START.Then the download works for a few minutes, but then the ERROR comes back and so one.My file storage is a large USB-Stick (because i wont stress my harddrive).Only the one file makes trouble, he other files are working good.Someone out there to help me?thxhighmailer
DreadWingKnight
Sounds like your hard drive is better suited to handling torrents than your USB stick honestly. You're probably overloading it or something similar.

DreadWingKnight
Not really, the error indicates that your USB stick has taken damage. Nothing can be done aout that.
highmailer
thx for your opinion.i do not really believe in a hardware problem, but i will watch this.i will try the download on another pc.
Firon
Torrenting doesn't kill hard drives. In fact, heavy or light usage is no more likely to kill it than random chance.
highmailer
@fironI think, that filesharing stresses the harddrives more than normal using. And i am not alone with this opinion.A websearch with the terms "filesharing harddisk damage" shows enough resultsin this direction. It would be better to use SCSI-HDDs.My next trial is to format the USB-stick from actually FAT32 to NTFS,although the downloaded files are not over 4 GB so far.But another question:Can i resume the "bad" download to another storage positionor have i start the torrent new?thxhighmailer
Firon
Google's published study showed that usage didn't matter when it came to hard drive death.Temperature and random chance are what kills drives.Flash media, on the other hand, has limited writes. Torrenting on it is not a great idea. You probably have to start again.
