AgentWolf Posted March 14, 2008 Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 I agree with Magendanz above...The old circled icon (ver 1.7) is better than the new squared icon (ver 1.8).I know that you can change the icon using skinning, but I think that it will be better if you have the old icon as default icon.Maybe you can make a poll and see what the community says about this. jewelisheaven Posted March 14, 2008 Report Share Posted March 14, 2008 It doesn't look that bad, and if the developers want to change the default icon when there's an easily accessible mechanism to revert the behaviour for people who don't like it why can't the developers choose to innovate? The square icon has been the favico for the site for a while.Polls are never a bad idea when it comes to input... I don't think I've ever seen a poll on this forum though. If a lot of people actually disliked the icon, we would have seen more complaints by now (or will in the future?). Even if we do end up with some more complaints, it's not as if the icon is hideous (I actually prefer it over the old one). It works fine as a default, and if you set everything up as you want it (shortcut icon, main.ico, tray.ico), you'll never have to see the icon anyway.The decision to change the icon wasn't an arbitrary one. The round icon wasn't actually round on Vista, since the edges were jagged (read: it actually looked ugly on Vista), and the only way to fix that was to increase the icon resolution (which would bloat the executable's size unnecessarily). That post # does not correspond to any post in a logo thread which I pointed out previously. Get in a huff if you like, the point I'm trying to get across is you're not using perm-links, which are valid for all people in all themes with all settings.
