uTorrent causes my Vista to freeze

Hi!

I just bought a brand spanking new laptop with Vista Ultimate included. Have always been using XP and for bittorrent always been using uTorrent so I installed it and started up the magic once again. The only problem is that uTorrent keeps crashing my system whenever I start the application. I downloaded BitTorrent and had the same problem there so I switched back to uTorrent but without any luck.

Sadly I cannot post any proper logfiles because as soon as I start the program the system pretty much crashes instantly. I'm posting my system specs though. I am suspecting memory dumping, cause I read about it in some other threads and on other forums as well.

Anyways, my specs.

Manufacturer: Zepto Computers A/S

Processor: Intel Core2 Duo T9300 @ 2,50GHz

Memory (RAM): 4094 MB

System: Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit

GTHK, Don't have any of SW listed in your link. I am using ZoneAlarm Pro as firewall and Nod32 v2.7x as aniti-virus on my Visita. As a test, I shut down ZA but it did not resolve the problem. I have 4 GB of RAM so it shouldn't be a problem. Will take a closer look when I get home later today.

BTW, my router is a Linksys WRT54G with the latest Tomato firmware. Since I don't have this issue when the machine is booted to WinXP, I am guessing the router is not the cause.

Yeah, sadly can't get the logs =/, I'm not quite sure exactly what happens when it crashes because it comes without warning and just completly freezes the comp with no error message whatsoever =/

I'm not quite sure but Vista itself is quite heavy on the memory, however, it would be quite ridiculous if it would crash when I have 4 gigs of ram and especially since uTorrent is quite a lightweight application.

Well, you SHOULD uninstall ZA, a router is also a firewall, and renders ZA unnecessary, you just need AV on your system to be safe. Also I think you can update NOD32 further, there's a buggy component in one of the versions, and so it was removed later on. If those two don't help, make sure ALL your drivers are up to date. You'll probably have to visit manufacturer sites for that.

I just checked utorrent working on the taskmanager when I started it up and as I suspected the memory dump starts as soon as I start the program, I checked a forum thread with similar problems ( http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=28138 ) and gonna check and c if they have any solutions for the problem!

I just tried a solution from the other thread, and it seems to be working right now, have had the program running for quite a while and usually it crashed either instantly or in the matter of a couple of minutes. What I did was that I simply uninstalled the third party application for wificonnection and used the drivers implemented in vista. I still have some problems with heavy memory use though, for some reason Vista seems to be using a lot of memory and I haven't updated the drivers for Wifi yet but will asap.

Okay, so I uTorrent and my comp ran fine for quite a while after the uninstallation of the thirdparty wifi, checked the drivers, all up to date, but after a while it froze like before. The logs above where created after I uninstalled the wifi app. and was using the standard drivers so it ran more stable for quite a while, but eventually it froze again, I monitored the memory usage during the time, and could notice it dropping, slowly but steadily =/
