Raz0rShaRp Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Hello i was wondering if anyone could help me with the best settings for "Rogers High Speed"?
Firon Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 A new ISP. Rogers throttles BitTorrent to hell and back. The only workaround is to use port 1720, which is a temporary solution only.
Raz0rShaRp Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 Why is it a Temporany solution?
Firon Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Because Rogers throttles BitTorrent and other P2P, and they're not gonna leave port 1720 unthrottled forever.
Raz0rShaRp Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 Wow, i just changed the port to 1720 and boom im doing 200KB/s. Thanks. It there anything else that can be done, besides changing ISP's?
Firon Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Nope, not much else you can do.Uh, cap your upload to 75-80% of your actual maximum (in KiB/s) and make sure you get Network OK. That's about it I guess.
Raz0rShaRp Posted December 29, 2005 Author Report Posted December 29, 2005 yeah i got all that done allready. What are the some other really good ISP's that have 3mbps and higher for Ontario Area> Id prefer 5mpbs.
silverfire Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 I don't know if they're in your area, but I see Shaw, Telus, and Sympatico on IRC all the time.
Switeck Posted December 30, 2005 Report Posted December 30, 2005 Shaw is as bad as Rogers when it comes to throttling BitTorrent traffic.
