Switeck
Who is your ISP, where is it located (country-wise), and does it throttle/disrupt BitTorrent in any way?Do GOOGLE searches on the subject and check here as well...especially THIS thread:http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=4128
some_01
am in UAE (United Arab Emirates) so ma ISP is Etisalat which is the only ISP here.. i dont think itz thrittling or disrupt bittorent and i did google searches but found nothing bout it..edit:i did Glasnost test and thats ma result:Is BitTorrent traffic on a well-known BitTorrent port (6881) throttled? The BitTorrent upload (seeding) worked. Our tool was successful in uploading data using the BitTorrent protocol. There's no indication that your ISP rate limits your BitTorrent uploads. In our tests a TCP upload achieved minimal 76 Kbps while a BitTorrent upload achieved maximal 48 Kbps. You can find details here. The BitTorrent download worked. Our tool was successful in downloading data using the BitTorrent protocol. There's no indication that your ISP rate limits your BitTorrent downloads. In our tests a TCP download achieved minimal 1 Kbps while a BitTorrent download achieved maximal 25 Kbps. You can find details here. Is BitTorrent traffic on a non-standard BitTorrent port (4711) throttled? The BitTorrent upload (seeding) worked. Our tool was successful in uploading data using the BitTorrent protocol. Switeck
My take on those values is BitTorrent OBVIOUSLY isn't blocked...but BT's max speeds are often no better and sometimes worse than TCP (web browser) MIN speeds. This highly suggests ISP funny business going on, where BT is limited to a slower speed than regular web browser speeds.
some_01
i dont think its related to ISP coz ma friends use the same ISP which is by the way the only ISP in UAE and they can download perfectly nuthin changed with their speed except me..btw therez sumthing confusing.. utorrent test says the port is open and i have the green icon but the canyouseeme.org says error and the reason is connection timed out!! jewelisheaven
Is he using uT? Or another filesharing software? Please note that you may find faster/more stable speeds on uT 1.8, so I'd check with your friend and then see if this mucking about is lessened by trying uT 1.8. some_01
yes shez using uT.. and i changed uT to 1.8 but still the same..i deleted the open port but the green icon still there and the speed is higher than when it was when the port was open!! is that normal or therez sumthin wrong with ma router.. Switeck
Symantec makes all kinds of computer-crippling software, seems you've got at least a little of it on yours. This sounds like something that may reroute networking in painful and uTorrent-incompatible ways:O23 - Service: Novell ZENworks Remote Management Agent (Remote Management Agent) - Novell, Inc. - C:\Program Files\Novell\ZENworks\RemoteManagement\RMAgent\ZenRem32.exeMissing entries always suggests an unstable computer system:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)O20 - Winlogon Notify: ACNotify - ACNotify.dll (file missing)So you have to use proxy settings to get on the internet?:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = proxy1.zu.ac.ae:8080R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 10.10.*.*;10.11.*.*;*.zu.ac.ae;192.168.*.*O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = ZAYED.localO17 - HKLM\Software\..\Telephony: DomainName = ZAYED.localO17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: Domain = ZAYED.localO17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: SearchList = ZAYED.local,zu.ac.aeO17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: SearchList = ZAYED.local,zu.ac.ae

jewelisheaven
I don't know.. short of stopping/disabling all thinkpad processes... I think it sounds like swarm variability. Also if you're wireless, try just using the windows connection manager without that extra intel stuff? It's certainly odd where both of you get different speeds... but in all honesty I'd be happy I'm not being shaped to nothingness when torrenting. some_01
today morning urorrent worked perfectly.. how and why i dont know.. the speed was good bout 50~60 and it was kinda stable then it turned to wat it was and the speed wont go over 30 and now its 1~10.. i thought maybe bcoz most of the ppl i download from their ISPs are throttling so i have to download at the good hours when their ISPs not throttling am i right?btw today sumthing happened to that stupid laptop.. well i shuted down then open it and the desktop wallpaper was gone all the files and folders on the desktop also disappeared and utorrent also was deleted.. then i did it all again and i found those files.. after that i shutted down open it again n guess wat desktop wallpaper appeared but the files on the desktop was not there i searched all over that stupid laptop but nuthing.. sorry if that story has nuthing to do with utorrent but maybe its the major prb why utorrent doesnt work properly.. so if theres any suggestions about wat that could be tell me..thx very much
Switeck
Your ISP may throttle by time-of-day too.Sounds like your laptop has SERIOUS problems...and if you don't get that cleared up, you may soon lose everything on it.
