paddy55 Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Hi:I searched for this issue, but may have missed it. If so, sorry, please point me in the right direction. Since upgrading to 1.8, I no longer see any active seeds once the torrent reaches 100%. Lately I've noticed, all my seeding torrents have active seeds listed as 0 and no 100% s show up on my peers tab. Seeds in the swarm seem to be OK. This morning, as a test, I downloaded Open Office. During the download the seeds column read 16(265) as soon as torrent finished column read 0(272). In 1.7.x the active seeds continued to show once torrent was finished downloading, a nice feature. Is this a bug or did I miss something? ThanksPaddy
DreadWingKnight Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 You are never supposed to connect to other seeds while seeding. What you're describing is a non-issue.
thelittlefire Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Feature of wasting connections to peers which don't have anything you want.... indeed, VERY important.
paddy55 Posted September 13, 2008 Author Report Posted September 13, 2008 Thanks for the response, so sorry for my ignorance. Many times I will continue to seed a torrent based upon the number of active seeds. If the active seeds are low I will seed so the torrent doesn't die. Now for another possibly ignorant question. Is there a way I can tell how many active seeds there are in a swarm?
Ultima Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 It's not perfectly accurate, but the tracker scrape can give you an idea of the count.
thelittlefire Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 A slow way to see how many seeds there are would be to slowly ipfilter all the peers on the swarm as an initial seeder... you'd see the seeds connect/disconnect after several seconds.
