I can't connect to uTorrent

Hi all,

I run a laptop on Windows Vista... been using uTorrent for a long time. I noticed that my upload speed was slow regardless of my settings (never more than 30kb/s) so I upgraded to 1.8.1

Since the upgrade, I have not been able to connect at all. I can't even use uTorrent to launch the help feature.

At the bottom of my screen, it says "DHT: waiting to log in" and I have download and upload limits set to unlimited.

Edit to add: one other weird thing... I've tried to upload things with lots of seeds - as many as 1k - but uTorrent tells me there are 0 seeds in the file I'm trying to get. And no, I'm not trying to upload from a registry-only site or anything like that.

Any thoughts on why I can't get it to work?

Thanks,

BDJ

I should mention I have another computer with uTorrent that works flawlessly on the same settings I have described and that this computer was able to use uTorrent until about 30 minutes ago, the one difference being that I upgraded. I don't think your helpful link is helpful in this case.

I don't think it's the firewall. I only have a windows firewall, which it is set to pass through. Also, I temporarily disabled the firewall to see if that would make a difference, and it didn't.

I could be wrong, but I think the biggest issue is that it isn't acknowledging the existence of seeds.
