Utorrent Lags My PC

I have Utorrent 1.8.2 (build 14458), Vista Ultimate 32 bit, Intel Core 2 duo processors @ 2.5 GHZ and 4 Gigs of RAM.

But when I download with Utorrent my PC lags severely. My mouse pointer jumps across the screen and everything takes a very long time to start up (programs etc.). But as soon as I pause all downloads my PC runs at normal speed again. And it doesn't matter how fast I'm downloading or seeding.

Any suggestions?

Post a hijackthis log please.

Check your IDE/SATA controller properties in the device manager to see if the transfer mode has dropped to PIO.
