bhvm
Dear all,I am using my laptop running XP pro, Core 2 Duo processor, 1GB ram etc to seed torrents almost 24/7.Hard disk temperatures reach 54.C despite me directing a house fan towards the laptop. I am worried that this may siginificantly reduce the life of HDD,as 55.c is warning limit. So what i am thinking is, Install Utorrent and Keep ALL the torrents on the USB2 external HDD. And let the main HDD spin down (provided correct settings in Win XP).What do ya say people? Will this work? or the main HDD will keep spinning for some reason? hermanm
You might want to sit your laptop on a cooling pad (those trays with three fans underneath). It'll reduce the heat of the laptop and hopefully the fan is directly below where the hard drive sits. Cost is maybe $20 USD.
bhvm
I don't want to buy any cooling pads...i've made mine at home...Using acrylic and 6V fans,28 LEDs (looks super CooooooL~)It draws power from 5V usb. Thanks for the concerns anyways. But the plight is...my main question remains unanswered...Will i be able to spindown my internall HDD if torrents are placed on USB2 HDD? DreadWingKnight
Considering you're still running your OS on the internal hdd, not likely
