radnoman
I don't understand why it's so slow. It's fine with other internets stuff and xbox live etc. I've tried port forwarding and all that.I use a BT home hub and have 8mb/s broadband. Switeck
1st and 2nd links in my signature may help.Do note that BT Central ADSL ISP in the UK specifically throttles BitTorrent (at least during peak evening hours) to about 30 KB/sec tops. But 20-30 is better than <10 you're getting.
radnoman
I've tried most things with no success including the links you just posted, here's a screenshot if it helps.http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/1204/torv.jpg
Nightmare1213
I was just about to post the same message. It's so slow! BT Homehub (up to 8mb). Im getting 9kb/s tops yet im connected to 40 odd seeders.Edit: Its improved to around 45kb/s by putting Basic Bittorrent features > disabling Enable DHT Network, Enable DHT for new torrents, and Enable Local Peer Discovery and putting Protocol Encryption to Forced. Are those settings all ok? I have portforwarded and it says its open. Do you think this is BT throttling? They never used to be this slow If it stays like this m changing to BE* who don't throttle. jewelisheaven
As you see your shaping started @ 19:00 localtime. Likely not much you can do if their hardware kicks in except maybe setting up the Scheduler.

And yes, that is EXTREMELY LIKELY BT throttling if things improve when you make those settings changes.BTW, disable Resolve IPs too...for a tiny bit extra speed. Also try disabling incoming legacy (not encrypted) connections. Nightmare1213
Switeck thanks for the help mate. But im not so sure it is my ISP. I have a feeling something isn't set up right somwhere along the line and I just can't figure it out. Im no sure if you can help me out as im out of ideas. I did that test torrent on the Utorrent site and it didn't even start downloading! There's plenty of seeders on the stuff im downloading and its still really slow. radnoman
It is Bt. I've been watching my speed thing and the limits from what i see are as followsMidnight/4PM - Unlimited4/7 - 10kb/s7/11.30 - 4kb/s11.30/12 - 30kb/sI phoned them up and asked them about it in a roundabout way. They said that they do limit bandwidth in peak times and it's in the terms and conditions that we agreed to.I'm not too bothered about it, just leaving your computer on at night is the solution. jewelisheaven
Yeah, similarly to Bell in .CA, BT in .UK apparently loves to shape their resellers. But apparently it's not nearly as bad as "tiscali" aka carphone warehouse when they're oversubscribed. Like radnoman you can call up your ISP say "hey i notice my internet isn't as fast during XX to YY hours on ZZ days of the week. (Note having a screenshot of your speedtab @ 5 min intervals may help if they ask for proof.. but honestly if they don't say they shape your traffic you can ask for escalation to a manager or a T/CSS (tech/customer support specialist) until they tell you otherwise. So, at least in radnoman's case it would appear using the Ctrl-P > Scheduler from 7p-12a looks like a good idea incase you forget to start torrents, to have uT halt your stuff (STOP) when it's unbearable so at least you can browse. Switeck
And it's a good idea to disable DHT at least while Scheduler's in a STOP mode as well...
Nightmare1213
radnoman thanks for clearing that up mate! It's annoying but what can we do eh? Anyway, im leaving them to go with 02 Broadband. Cheaper, unlimited downloads, and as i've heard from a few friends the download speeds seem to be great 99% of the time! Anyway thanks for the help guys.
