Linux Server Very Slow Speeds Vs. WINE client (with pics!)

Both clients have the same settings and the same torrent file was used.

uTorrent 1.8.2 + WINE:

Normal. Maximum speed on the torrent (~9MB/s)

uTorrent Server alpha (latest):

Odd spikes. Slow speed (~5MB/s). The big pause is just me stopping and starting the torrent, as it was even slower (2.4MB/s)!

uTorrent Server 'Logger' shows numerous of these every few seconds:

[18:14:24] Request failure #2 (will retry in 4 seconds): list=1&cid=2097249671&getmsg=1
[18:14:22] Request failure #1 (will retry in 2 seconds): list=1&cid=2097249671&getmsg=1
[18:14:19] Request failure #1 (will retry in 2 seconds): list=1&cid=1754577701&getmsg=1
[18:14:11] Request failure #1 (will retry in 2 seconds): list=1&cid=1100806353&getmsg=1
[18:14:04] Request failure #2 (will retry in 4 seconds): list=1&cid=585214076&getmsg=1
[18:14:02] Request failure #1 (will retry in 2 seconds): list=1&cid=585214076&getmsg=1
getmsg=1

Any ideas?

I've found the Linux server version to download faster than uTorrent 2.0.4 running in WIne on openSUSE 11.2.

I would expect the server to perform better than a Wine-d uTorrent GUI client because the CPU doesn't have to spend time servicing GUI events. However, bandwidth and latency may limit performance in some environments so that it may not matter if the CPU spends extra cycles on GUI events.

It would be best to compare with a reasonably similar version of the Windows GUI client running on wine; 3.0 would be the most similar, since only recent codelines include code for POSIX platforms and modifications to make as much code as possible be generic.

I don't believe 1.8.2 has the latest uTP code.
