jmbowman Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 HelloI got a letter from ISP (Verizon) and though no charges are being pressed for so-called "copyright infringement" I was warned. I'd like to know how I could protect myself from ISP's keeping track on me. I'm not doing anything illegal of course, but maybe some software can keep my IP addy hidden, or anonymous. Could someone help me out or point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance- JD
mikebell Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 There are services that sell you a private VPN line to their servers and then you can torrent without fear but that costs $$ per month. (search: anonymous proxy vpn bittorrent). You can only stay safe if you don't download from public torrent sites and get a membership on a private site. All other solutions don't work and are snake oil.
DreadWingKnight Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 You can only stay safe if you don't download from public torrent sites and get a membership on a private site. This "solution" is snake oil too. "Private" sites aren't that private.

DreadWingKnight Posted April 9, 2011 Report Posted April 9, 2011 Except that, with a smaller community, you are that much more likely to get connected to an anti-p2p monitor because there are fewer peers to connect to.
jmbowman Posted April 11, 2011 Author Report Posted April 11, 2011 What about folx for mac? Its a TOR
ehustler Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Pay someone on Fiverr to seed torrents for you. That way it'll be their IP being tracked and not yours.
