geon Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I bought a new nas server http://noontec.com/En/Products/MovieHome/N5.html. I use it as a download target for utorrent. Now, when I want to download torrent 2GB+, utorent says that "one or more file exceeded limit for the target" (or something similar). Might be nas firmware error in nas, but I tried BitComent and it works fine in this issue. There is also no problem to copy big files with Total Commander files, there is no problem to play big files with vlc. So more propabaly it is some misconfiguration in utorrent.Thank you very much for help. configuration: xpssp3, utorrent 2.2.1 or 3.0, nas sever gigalink n5
DreadWingKnight Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 1> We don't recommend saving directly to network attached storage regardless2> If the filesystem is FAT or FAT32, you'll get this error. If it's FAT32, you'll get it if a single file in the torrent is over 4GB3> If the filesystem on the NAS is not FAT32 but the NAS is reporting it as FAT32, then there's a bug in your NAS and not in uT.
geon Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 the filesystem is exFAT (and cant be changed anyway) which sould be OK as for big files. I got this message when the files is over 2GB. I still think its in uT, when the BC is working fine with these files.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 What is the filesystem being exposed to windows as when you mount it?
geon Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 On right mouse -Properties - there is "FATE" what I think is FATExtended.I got installed support for exfat for xp sp3 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955704
DreadWingKnight Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I got this message when the files is over 2GB.The threshold for the message is 4GB and FAT32 filesystem. It may be that the API that tells uT the filesystem is telling uT that the filesystem is FAT32, I'll get it looked into.
geon Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 I would really appreciate it. The reason why I bought this nas server was, amongst others, to have enough space to download hi-res movies.... And... my comp is now much faster when the disk was in external box via USB.

AdamK Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Thanks. This will be fixed in 3.1. We're currently testing it.
geon Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 I have found another very similar issue ragarding big files on nas server. If there is already a big file (2GB+) on nas server and I try to create torrent in uT choosing the big files (or the folder with big file) I get similar error message like "one or more file exceeded limit for the target". So just another place in uT where this issue occurs. Thank you.l
Firon Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 I forgot to respond here, but we fixed this as of 3.1 RC1.Please give the latest 3.1 a shot (currently RC3)
