OCedHrt Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 A torrent with multiple trackers where one or more are dead / not authorized / can't connect / etc won't start downloading.Download started once I deleted the non-connecting trackers. Can anyone else confirm this?
NiteShdw Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 I haven't. Each tracker is updated separately as far as I can tell. I've used ones from ISOHUNT with a ton of bthub URLs. I get erros like "Hostname not found" or "Invalid reply", while the original tracker still shows "working".
OCedHrt Posted October 16, 2005 Author Report Posted October 16, 2005 Hmm, I must've not waited long enough
sethg Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 With multi-tracker torrents, uTorrent seems to try to connect to all trackers in round-robbin fashion. As soon as it succeeds in connecting to one, the torrent starts. It still keeps trying to connect to the unreachable trackers, including scheduling retries. You can see this as the display updates each second. The tracker part of the screen changes on each update to the next tracker on the list. It goes from "working" to "hostname not found", etc. Each tracker seems to have its own scheduled update time. This looks like it is doing exactly the right thing.
chaosblade Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 NiteShdw: You should edit out that mentioning of an illegal torrent index site
Lallero Posted October 26, 2005 Report Posted October 26, 2005 I encountered this problem just now with the laters uTorrent (1.1.7.2). Might have been an isolated incident but thought I'd post anyway. If I'm allowed to mention the name of torrent, it was the second episode of Soltyrei by Shinsen-subs. The first tracker in the list stated that the download was not authorized by the tracker and uTorrent didn't seem to get past that, and just tried to update the first tracker - I removed it from the properties and all worked well after that. Then again, perhaps uTorrent DID work but I didn't wait long enough for it to try again, I did try updating the tracker manually put that didn't work.PS. Great piece of software
ironboyzz Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 I just wait a while and if they haven't connected, I edit out the bad/no connect trackers.
Firon Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 You don't have to remove them for it to work, uTorrent will cycle through them on its own, though it may take some time if they're in the same tracker group.
ironboyzz Posted November 5, 2005 Report Posted November 5, 2005 Yes I know you don't have to remove but just seeing that DL with connect error icon keeps catching my eye!Just a little neurotic i guess LOL
