mariof
Hi,According to BEP 0005,Newly installed clients who attempt to download a trackerless torrent on the first try will not have any nodes in their routing table and will need the contacts included in the torrent file. However, this is not true for uTorrent. I tried installing uTorrent 3.1.2 in a completely clean virtual machine with only bare Windows XP installed and making it open a magnet link without any trackers inside it (here's the link, if you're interested) and uTorrent successfully found some peers in just a few minutes. Therefore, the question is, how does uTorrent fill (or initialize) it's DHT routing table on it's first launch?Thank you.
DreadWingKnight
There are a small handful of hardcoded DHT nodes that uTorrent attempts to connect to initially to get its first nodes.
Firon
The client contacts router.utorrent.com and router.bittorrent.com to bootstrap itself with 8 initial nodes at startup. It can also use the nodes key in a .torrent file.
