stormthirst
I've just finished creating my first torrent file, and wanted to post a magnet link on a website. When I right mouse click on the torrent, which is seeded and ready to go, the option to copy the magnet link is greyed out.I'm using uTorrent 3.1.2, on Windows 7 64-bitHave I missed a trick here? stormthirst
Oh it might be - I set it off to create the torrent late last night and I don't remember the settings! Can I edit the torrent, or do I need to re-create it from scratch? DreadWingKnight
There are programs you can use to remove the private flag. The infohash WILL change so any sites that have the torrent already will need to be updated.
stormthirst
Thanks. I've already started to re-create the torrent. Won't be a problem with the hash - no one else is downloading it as it wasn't published. Thanks for your help.
WLS
Why do you want to post a magnet link on the web site? Most torrent hosting sites, still want users to upload the torrent file, they create the magnet link.
stormthirst
Because I'm trying to persuade the owners of this particular site, that they don't need to host torrents in order to share files.
WLS
The worlds most resilient torrent site, still requires a .torrent file to be uploaded. They create the magnet link from the uploaded file, and make the .torrent file available if there are only a certain amount of seeds. Why not just convince the site you are referring to, to create the magnet link from the .torrent file?
