chris00780
So I got BTGuard installed using the provided instructions on their site. My question is what happens if the proxy fails? Does this expose my IP? Is there anyway around this? I just have the BTGuard proxy plan not the VPN version. thanks

BTLizzle
Don't bother trying to reach BTguard support, they are basically impossible to get a hold of. They make their software basically idiot proof, so they don't have to do any work. Seriously, I wonder how much money they make a month, their overhead is basically nothing. That said, btguard proxy should be perfectly safe. If you get disconnected from the proxy, you will lose your connection to all your bittorrent swarms as well. The utorrent client is configured to connect via a proxy, and when the proxy fails so does your connection. You can confirm this on your own. Stop all your active downloads and seeds. Change the proxy address to the wrong name in utorrent and then go to one of those websites that lets you check your torrent ip address. It should fail to identify any address at all because your torrent client will not be connected.

wargod
If you have BTGuard, that still doesn't prevent your ISP from seeing that you used a public torrent site like piratebay for example, correct? You still have to configure your LAN settings with a proxy first before attempting to type something like priatebay.se in your URL, right? Is this correct, or does BTGuard do it all?
