Download stops after some seconds in "Downloading" state, need to press stop and start

Hello.

After I add a new torrent, it starts downloading, but download freezes in some seconds, after 1-3% are downloaded. Status is left as "Downloading 1.7%". If I manually stop, then start this torrent, it downloads without interruptions at full speed. This happens often, but not always. The other way to resume downloading is to restart uTorrent, but simple stop-start a torrent is always enough.

I've attached screenshots of download list and one first torrent details in list. Notice that download speed is 0-0.3 kB/s.

Environment: uTorrent 3.4.9, Windows 10 x64.

What I have tried:

  • Different torrent trackers, different torrents, including ones with more that 1000 active seeds.
  • Internet connection seems like not an issue, because restarted torrent immediately downloads at 100 Mbps. I have real IP with UPnP port forwarding on router, no firewall, no antivirus.
  • Number of connections in preferences - I've tried to set 10-1000, no changes.
  • Queueing - not active here, because torrents are in "Downloading" state.
  • Rate limiting is disabled.
  • Tried to disable "Apply rate limit to uTP connections" as suggested on this forum, no luck.
  • I have no 100% disk overload warnings, disks are fast SSD.

What is special in my setup:

  • I have 2841 torrents in list, most of them are inactive. I've tried to stop most torrents from downloading or seeding, seems this changes nothing.

How can I debug this issue?

When did this start happening? Try to download my link slackware and give a screen shot of how it does that will give a idea what is going on. Also if you don't have many seeders or trackers then you will not get those download until someone seeds them as well.

PiusX, I don't remember when, maybe one year ago, I upgrade uTorrent regularly. Your torrent downloads at good speed. Well, speed is not an issue, I understand that it can be slow for various of reasons. But zero speed from 100 seeders is something unusual for me. This happens from time to time on any torrents, maybe sometimes your torrent will stuck on start too. Offtopic: I've used Slackware since v9, heh ;)

DreadWingKnight, all settings are default, except already mentioned (Enabled UPnP, disabled NAT-PMP, no port randomization, no rate limiting, disabled scape, enabled encryption, allowed incoming legacy, 1000 connections global maximum, 100 peers per torrent, advanced tab settings are defaults).

  • 3 weeks later...

DreadWingKnight, I don't think so, I have OpenWRT with iptables.

I've tried to play with bt.tcp_rate_control and set download rate limiting, but seems no effect. But it looks like related to internal rate control in uTorrent. How to debug it?

Attached recent screenshot with traffic graph, each peak is new torrent added and started to download at full speed, then speed is dropped to zero.

Would it be to hard to show those screen shots? And what happened when you tried to download Slackware? You never tested that to say what happened?

PiusX, for now I can't reproduce bug with your torrent. Even more funny: when your torrent starts to download, stuck torrents ("Downloading 0%") begin to download too themselves.

Sounds like you got other issues that isn't related to utorrent then.
