gtMaxus
after updating windows to version 20h2 build 19042.662 when using uTorrent the use of the system partition is always at 100%. Has anyone noticed the problem?
PiusX
Windows version??? This is what utorrent does use available space for what it is doing unless you have it running from a different HDD. I only use the main drive to run the software not where I download torrent files to. This is why you get such a high drive usage because it is running utorrent and downloading and uploading from the same location.
gtMaxus
The uTorrent is running local installation standards. standard windows partition (C:). I have several HDDs, and only one system partition (C:) is at 100% usage while uTorrent is running. The problem started to occur after the last Windows update. Tks. PiusX
That's because that is where the torrent program is running from. If it was a totally separate HDD then it wouldn't constantly run at 100% since the C: drive is the running software it will be running constantly. It most likely was like this and it's the update that just made windows apps use the c: drive more that is the reason your seeing at high levels. rafi
uTorrent should not consume 100% no matter what HD it is on. Possible reasons might be VERY high download rate to that disc, or very large number of active torrents triggering writing to resume.dat.
gtMaxus
Most of the time my uTorrent uploads. I have about 800, not all are active. Look like images. TKS!
gtMaxus
I did a test: even if you disable all torrents, the system partition remains at 100%!
rafi
Seems under "system", if you exit utorrent does it stop? You need to determine what's accessing the HDD so much. Resource Monitor can somewhat do that under its Disk tab option.
gtMaxus
Yes, if I leave uTorrent, the HDD behavior returns to normal. Even if I have a single active torrent, the HDD remains at 100%. I'm not sure, but it seems to be a problem with the windows kernel. Tks!

PiusX
Which OS 10 version is yours? Is is 32 or 64 O/S system? What version of utorrent are you using and did you leave the settings default or what did you change?

gtMaxus
I found out. What causes the reported problem is helper.exe. (location: user\AppData\Roaning\uTorrent\helper\helper.exe
