just recently i dont know what i did but....whenever i open uttorent and download something on it....it starts to completely slow down my computer...my mouse lags and everything lags....i want to keep on using utorrent but im afraid imma have to stop using it....does anybody know whats the problem? now, ive been using bitcomet for 2 days or so now...and its working fine but i dont like it at all.....and also when i exit out of utorrent...and i check my task manager it shows that the utorrent is still there even tho i exit out of it....its weird...i try ending the process and everything and no luck exiting the program out of the system.....it takes about 5 mins or so for it to exit itself out of the system and then the lagging goes away.

Hi there,

Since update 1.7 Beta this happens.... (note before 1.7 beta with same settings all worked fine)

after And during running UT i cant start firefox or thunderbird.

I do have Kaspersky Antivirus + Antihacker running but not the "firewall" as mentioned in the FAQ.

The Antihacker program does also function as a firewall except the explanation/sollution given here does not meet the settings i have in this so called Antihacker program.

And i think it does not aply since i have this Kaspersky + UT running since version 1.6. agree (yes/no?)

After closing UT these Mozilla programs wont start, they do show up in processes (even several times if i were anxious enough :))

Reset is the only sollution, then first check mail+browse But when i start UT the problem is back again.

I could uninstall the Kaspersky software completely and have a go..... but since this only happend after the 1.7 Beta upgrade i dont think it has to do with that.

used stuf:

winXP latest blabla with minimal m$ anoyances (no firewall/virus/msn/IE/Outlook) on a pb5 board with E6600. connection=ADSL 768/6000 thrue Draytek router/modem 2600 with Upnp enabled.

Any help is appreciated

Obelix.

Thanks Switeck,

I now learn t that it takes 4-6 minutes to produce the UI of firefox... then another 4-8 minutes to present me the homepage.

when Opening system resources i see the processor taking up some 4% at most, and memory some 300mb. (1gb installed) so there's not much going on actually.

Ok...

Test > I started a game of Quake3 and joined some server (ctf) and i even won!

a few net hickups but everything is fine considering UT and all running in background.

Then i tried to see a preview of this very same message....... this is what happend:

for no reason the program pidgin (a msn altenative chat thingy) disconnects... and reconnects.

I closed it for the next test.

23:07 pressed the preview button

23:15 nothing yet so i closed kaspersky all.

23:16 windows nag about no protection bla bla.

23:17 finally see preview :)

were down to 2 programs UT/firefox

Then i used the windows update thing (which uses the IE) after 5 minutes nothing yet....

The IE resets a couple times (at least thats what i think it did)

btw i topped the up at 50 kb/s and down at 300 kb/s during all this.

Actual down and up was about 20 kb/s. so nothing much going on at UT.

After 11 minutes i see some borders made by Bill Gates.

I do a quick ping to www.microsoft.com and get timeouts. hmm.

18 minutes later.. nothing yet..

ping to router/modem = ok

here comes another process explorer shot at this moment (i see nothing resident from kaspersky so i asume its really gone)

25 minutes later it says to be checking my os. i quit this (im up to date don't worry)

Were down to UTorrent and something that works as a browser and firefox.

I ping my provider (xs4all.nl) and get response at 81ms

I ping micro etc. timeouts

I ping www.utorrent.com and get 170ms

but when i try to move around @ Ut.com i get stuck in the mud.

Next thing i wil try is te revert back to UT 1.6 or something higher (stable?)

Phew long reply im sorry for that, guess i was on a roll... :)

I'll be back with some results tomorrow (if i get lucky).

thanks for now.

Obelix.
