Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 No reason to limit it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Did the changes and it's still at the same speed. What else can I do to get faster downloads? I am running one torrent at a time. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Your speeds are limited by the peers in the swarm. Can't always get full speed on a torrent. In fact, you usually can't.Use this torrent. If you get full speed on it, there's nothing more you can do.http://borft.student.utwente.nl:6969/file?info_hash=%18%F6%20s%FD%FA%DA%D5%91%86%94%10%DE%A5%8FV%B6%1Fi%A1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Damn, I got like 55kb/s with that torrent. Why?!?!?!? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 It's a very well seeded torrent, that's why.Your speed is limited by the upload speed of everyone else in the swarm, and remember they have to cap it too and upload to other people. So you typically shouldn't expect full speed from a torrent, it's just a fact of life. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 The torrent I am downloading is well seeded too, or so I believe. Seeds: 1401Leechers: 12256Also, what other settings can I customize to make things faster? Anything that helps a newbie out. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
1c3d0g Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Because that torrent has enough seeds to keep it going. If you max out your speed on an OpenOffice.org torrent, it usually means that µTorrent is already tweaked to the hilt. As Firon said, one thing you got to understand is you simply cannot achieve maximum speed on all torrents. That's reality. Ideally you'll realize that speed when the torrent conditions are just right, but most of the time you'll just have to keep yourself happy with what you've got. Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Well, there's 1 seeder for every 10 peers, so slow speeds aren't surprising.OpenOffice has like a thousand seeders with 10Mbit connections What speeds were you getting? Also, it takes a while for the speed to ramp up.You did make sure µTorrent doesn't display NAT Error right? And that yer firewall isn't blokcing stuff. P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 I'm getting the same 3kb/s to 6kb/s and yes, I just saw that it displays NAT Error. What is that? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

dudeboyz Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Try downloading a popular torrent, like tonight after LOST is shone on TV, try downloading tonights episode tomorrow and it should be very fast. Or go to like piratebay.org and choose from their top 100 and just test one of those perhaps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 I got two routers. One for the internet(Efficient-Siemens Speedstream-5200) that is on the list and the other which is to connect the two computers(CNet CWR854) and that's not on the list. So, I should only portforward the internet one, right? Also, the routers are connected to the other computer, not this. So would I portforward it on this one, right?I need all the help you guys can give me.Thanks!Ps: Why does it say that the Enable UPnp Port Mapping needs to be unchecked. It comes checked as default, so why does it need changing? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 I'm stuck in the part where I have to enter the ip of my router. It says a default one in there but it doesn't open in the browser. Says it doesn't find it. How can I check the ip of my router?Ps: Why does it say that the Enable UPnp Port Mapping needs to be unchecked. It comes checked as default, so why does it need changing? P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Well, now it doesn't say NAT error but now it doesn't say anything. It's blank. So how do I get Network OK now? I don't have a firewall. I only have Norton Antivirus 2005 and the Windows Firewall deactivated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 If you're gonna forward a port manually, you should turn off UPnP.Start -> Run -> cmdtype in ipconfig, press enterC:\>ipconfigWindows IP ConfigurationEthernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.2 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.1Default Gateway is your router's IP. P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Well, sometimes it shows the NAT Error, sometimes it is blank. What else should I do. Done everything I know. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 µTorrent displays nothing when it's a small swarm size in the torrent.If you've never seen Network OK, it means that you haven't forwarded your port.Do what I said to find your router's IP.Can you explain your network setup again? P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 I have never seen Network OK. Never.My network is setup as:2 ComputersOne computer has two routers. One for the internet and the other to connect to the other computer(mine).So I connect to one router and then get the internet from the other.I followed everything from portforward.com but it still says NAT Error.And I already found my routers ip address. P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 So anyone? Also, I don't know if it's possible but if I give you my ip address and everything necessary, can you forward it for me? I don't know just an idea because I did everything and it still says NAT Error. It's going faster now(@8kb/s - 16kb/s) but if it can go even faster without the NAT Error, then that would help a lot. Firon Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 So you've got the routers daisy chained?Router A has internet and is also connected to Router B, and your PC is connected to Router B right?If so, you have to forward the port you want on Router A to Router B's IP address, then forward the port on Router B to your PC, I believe. P4v3l Posted December 1, 2005 Report Share Posted December 1, 2005 Man, that's too complicated. I'm inclined to not mess with it anymore and continue seeing the NAT Error. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
